Thanks for the feedback and another question please, approximately how long did it take to get over the hill itself/how long were you waiting in a queue or similar?
Contemplating going over tomorrow in my little Suzuki Swift, but not sure that I want to wait an hour in a queue??
Thanks in anticipation.
Xylo on friday at 4.15pm there was no queue. Passed patong hill in 2 min. Very little traffic.
If you will pass in morning/day time i see no problem. Around 5-6pm traffic will increase.

I would say that the post from @London Lowf wouldn't be far off the mark, because that is one hell of a landslip and although I'm not a structural engineer I would say there is some mighty big work to be done there, because the hill/dirt supporting the road has to be rebuilt and I would think that they would have to put some huge concrete piles in to even start that process.
I had an inkling something wasn't right when they were covering the hill on the other side of the road with concrete and putting in a small gully, which was far too small in my opinion, on the side of the road to catch the water.
Unfortunately it would appear that this concreting of the hill resulted in water cascading down it and into the small gully, and under the road, thereby washing away the foundation. The effect this had can be seen from the pictures.
Xylo one lane going from patong to kathu is open again for cars. Both directions for motorbikes open. Passed it before. All good. Saves alot time and hassle.

I have an APEC card and used that lane pre-Covid, but in the past months the normal lanes have been just as fast. In my 8 international departures in 2022, I've not seen a immigration line of more that a couple of people when departing.
Departure is normaly not the problem. Arrival is a different story especially in high season. I'm not unhappy that i can use the lane on my next trip this month.
Pre covid it was also possible to use the lane for a small fee when you catched a easy going immi officer. Guess it's still possible.

There are no normal fast track lanes at HKT. They have a VIP lane for APEC card, Elite card and airport VIP services. The later one you can book at Coral lounge or https://www.phuketairport.vip/.

Well, if all of Phuket is like this, the ladies will be mad at me, because then I will decide if it's gone to be a trip for them or not.

Let the ladies have fun. Don't worry it is not that bad today as on sunday.

Drove up today from Patong to Khao Lak. Easy going no problem. Sure heavy rain but no real flooding except near airport for 150m at the pump station but this was also no problem.

They build this for who? The nearby sea gypsy? Will be same great thing like the turtle bs there. But never mind it's like always a good backhander for the boys.

My friend emailed me an hour ago: Tomorrow he's going to get a "Vaccination WHO yellow book", whatever that is, and that he is "transiting" not "visiting". So he saved himself 15,000 baht (3 x 5,000). I hope he's right!
I presume he's getting 3 of these books/cards - for him and his two kids, or maybe one book/card covers all three.
Qatar Airways don't ask for covid test or vax at check in and in transit in Doha. No need for masks also on board and in airport. Easy going. Did it 1.5 weeks ago.

I've noticed that on YT videos. How come is Phuket packed with Indians now? Has the TAT strategy shifted to attract more local tourists ?
The wake thread should be archived imo.
Far too long to be readable.
Far too old to be entirely relevant.
Nope.

I dont think its closer from north to phangnga city than to phuket city.
Phuket renewing is very relaxed, you go, give papers, take a 1 minute colour and reflex test, take a photo and thats all. Very fast and well organized.
Since pandecim they have queue system so no crowd anymore.
From my house in Maikhaw i need max 25 minutes to DL office in PhangNga. Did it many times. To DL office in Phuket 45 minutes. Also did it many times.
PhangNga office was much more relaxed till 10 years ago and the people much more friendly and nice. Before also many Phuket people went to PhangNga DL office.

dont ya mean when the titanic closed ????
Hmm...maybe more like that. titanic closure was the paradise cut and shark closure was the freely unlimited party cut and money/power took control.
Was titanic '95 or '96?
-
Less crowded and more relaxed. Also more close for people living in north phuket.
-
Patong lost the paradise feeling when Shark was busted. That was the beginning of it's way going downhill year by year. From Slash to Ahmed...from rock'n roll with endless party to low 711 spenders.

Doctor Jirasit at BPH. Best and smoothest gastro biopsy done by him. Can recommend him.

I'm not too familiar with where Honda used to be. Do you have, say, Google Earth coordinates?
I've also searched for "New Wine Pro south Phuket" without luck. Even the Wine Pro Facebook page doesn't mention it.
It's next from WeCafe.

Many countries are treating the disease as endemic now but whilst the WHO still have covid 19 designated as a global pandemic, they don't appear to be stating it's an endemic disease. Covid no longer makes the news in the UK.
To treat is as endemic, all restrictions have to go. No State Of Emergency, no masks, no temperature taking in stores, no signing into stores, restaurants and bars back to normal.
Is Phuket ready for that?
Yup. Patong is doing it since weeks without problems. No masks, no signing, no temperature check and party till morning.
