I understand XP, but what can we put this short term thinking down to?

    Lack of education?

    Poor business practice?

    Greed?

    Incompetence?

    Criminality?

    Over leveraged landlords?

    Envy?

    Competitiveness?

    "Face?"

    They are destroying the place.

It is arrogance mixed with scorn.

I read this news and just shake my head. What did the police do wrong ...

It wasn't the police. Civil defense volunteers did the drug check. This might trigger it. Who gives them the right to do police work without police present?

This civil defense votunteer think was always scary for me because i know real thugs who take part in this only to cover their wrongdoing.

I think Schlog was asking where on Phuket do you live (north, south, Rawai, Thalang etc) and which areas would  you consider moving to so people could constructively offer advice.

    Yup. Correct.

Good he not lost his sense of humor.

BTW also on hkt cats may have their on personal litter box in a penthouse....but with me as their personal cleaner lol.

I used to hang out at a pool bar/pub in Bangla on the corner of Bangla and Soi Sea Dragon in 2005 and 2006.

It was called the Bier Kutscher (or similar) and served good bar food, had friendly staff and was a great place to people watch........played the occasional game of pool, but not my forte!!

Sad to see it go and Monsoon now stands where it once did.

I think it was the Bierkutsche. Originally it was some meter more up Bangla road and was a good swiss-german-austrian restaurant.

On many night outs in the 90' it was our starting point. After a good Gschnetzeltes with Roesti went down to U2 for warm up and watch. Usually when the Christine girls strolled down Bangla, it was time to head to Banana for 2h entertainment.

The "love clown" show was always a burner. At 2am went up to Saloon bar and the bars next and behind Fire House. There then rock till 7-9am before we had gaeng hoi pet pet breakfast in the small thai restaurant right side where today Jungcylon is. A friendly tuktuk driver brought you home for 20 thb per person.

Patong was paradise of love and rock. Always inspiring and a surprise. Without Patong i would never met guys like Axl Rose but in the 90' it was normal and a lot fun. Never thought that a small bone like him could drink this way lol.

  5. Passed HKT immigration 3 times in the last weeks. It looks like they did their homework. Never had to wait more then 5 min and only friendly IO.

Yesterday tried a new way to pass customs without problems. Had like usually 15-20kg food and other stuff. This time i packed super stinky french cheese in my luggage. It really smells horrible but great taste. Smelling this they send me on my way without check and talking that this crazy foreigner must have stinky Bla Ra a lot in his lugguge.

    Smilingly i passed quickly lol.

The animals I listed are all big enough to total a car or truck if you hit them.

A dog or cat may hurt the underside of the car a bit, so why swerve  a vehicle for

a small animal or lizard or snake. That is my point..  cut off size  would be a large dog

like a Great Dane,  or  Irish wolf hound.

    Geezer

What about midgets? Avoid or full throttle hit?

Sorry schlog that is only 2  and if they are on the beach they are probably way over priced and that is confirmed

by your statement that they have been on sale for more than 1 year. I still can't see any for sale signs???

Go there if you want to see the for sale signs. Then you will see also 8 more.

Your statement was wrong that no business is for sale at beach road. It is easy as that.

A location on these 10 business's would be helpful schlog?? or perhaps a few pics of for sale signs??

Of course you are aware it is low season, the time when many poorly run businesses go under every

    year in Patong???

Most businesses up for sale more then 1 year. May you have walk then you will see. This 2 are easy to find. Welcome.

I see lots of posts by a certain poster repeatedly talking about closures here and for sale signs there. I frequent the beach road, rat-u-thit road and the third road regularly and I have been searching in vain to find any closures or for sale signs on these road, of course my eyesight is not what used to be so if anyone spots any signs please be good enough to let us know.

Are you serious? Only on beach road you could find easily more then 10 businesses for sale. Starting with the ex absolute hotel....ocean plaza mall.....

The tunnel is under ground, so the builders could have made it one lane wider under the ground

with extra support for the surface lanes above ground on both sides.  I seen this done in some

other tunnel projects.  This one was not well thought out, and now it will be a 2 lane tunnel until

the Thai drivers are taught how to use the centre lane properly, and that can take more than a lifetime

to teach.  That is why this three lane concept is useless, basically

    Geezer

Yup exactly lol. Also they could have build a roundabout, rocket launching site or a rollercoaster here at this junction underground but it wouldn't change the situation.

Always good to get inspiring advise.

Seriously..soi lion..i was only a few yrs ago and lasted for 5 minutes.

Good times of soi lion are long gone.

Early 90' with bavarian bar and the bar of the english guy who regularily pxxx in his bedroom were not too bad. But longer then 1h stay in this soi - impossible because of the depressive atmosphere.
