  1. My charcoal Weber in action smoking with longan wood. I really prefer charcoal over gas for flavor and it is easy to control flare ups - just close the lid! However I do use my gas one if I have more guests than the Weber can handle. I shipped the BBQs with the rest of my gear from Oz and luckily no duty paid on anything in my 40' container smile.pngpost-95487-0-91905200-1371277418_thumb.j

  2. Always preferred wood myself, ideally apple, but that's hard to come by here.

Try using longan wood for smoking/bbq fuel - similar to apple and readily available here.

  3. Are you wanting to store a car long-term? My preferred method is to fill up with high octane fuel, eliminating 'air-space' for any condensation to form.

Modern fuel systems are 'closed' and should not present any problem. Degradation of fuel is overcome by filling with high octane but equally ok to leave tank empty and fill with high octane upon first re-use.

Fuel stabilser may cause more harm than good as the stuff contains solvent, alcohol and or light (sewing machine type) mineral oil. Ethanol fuels already contain alcohol.

No just using it in fuel storage cans for lawnmowers etc . I have used it for unleaded fuels in Singapore and Australia and never had any problems and also used it when I laid up my motorbike for a few months.

  4. Go for the real McCoy and make some Scottish Rowies - Aberdeen's answer to the French Croisssant. A heart attack on a plate but deep joy with your morning coffee! Now, where can I buy some lard here in CM?

    Buttery [Rowie] Recipe

Scottish traditional breakfast roll eaten in Aberdeen ingredients on how to make a buttery recipe and the history of rowies:

butteries.jpg Butteries are named after their high lard content. They are also known as morning rolls and rowies and are a traditional Aberdeen roll. The best way to describe their look and taste is a saltier, flatter and greasier Croissant. Which doesnae sound nice, but rowies are really delicious and filling for breakfast. Aberdeen butteries can be eaten cold and many shops, garages etc sell them pre buttered for anyone snatching an on the go breakfast

  5. I used to play there fairly regularly and always used the same caddy. At the end of November they had started work on expanding the course to 18 holes but by Xmas they had apparently sold it off to a Singaporean developer who will build some sort of residential complex on the site

Yes, sad to see it go, it was handy for a quick game or practice. At the current rate of development, there will not be many green areas left around San Sai.

  6. If any one thinks the booze from Tachilek is the real deal then your taste buds have been destroyed from drinking it.

    Rubbish.

Again, never had a bad batch from there yet. Not saying all places are legit, but I've never come across a dud yet.

I was up there at New Year and bought two bottles of The Balvenie Doublewood single malt at the shop on the bridge and can assure you that it is genuine but no cheaper than most airport duty free shops. I didn''t try the shops down the steps but maybe give them a go next time.

  7. No you can not obtain anywhere except where you live in Thailand. But you could obtain a new O-A visa from home country and if you have a multi entry it is valid for a new one year stay on each entry during the one year it is valid (providing almost 2 years). If you are actually talking about a one year extension of stay from immigration office you will either have to do before you leave or start again after you return. Entry must be made in current passport and then transferred into new passport.

Many thanks for your response - unfortunately it confirms my thoughts.

Apologies for posting in the wrong forum

  8. My O-A visa is due for renewal/extension in Feb 2013 and I have booked an appointment for 31st Jan. However, it now looks like I may be out of the country at that time. Is it possible to get a visa extension overseas or must I be in Thailand? Aso, I'm on my last free page in my passport so can I get the new visa extension in a new passport without having to transfer the old one over assuming that the new passport issue and visa extension will only be one or two weeks apart?

  9. Last time I was back in Oz there was a combined slow & pressure cooker on sale at The Good Guys, unfortunately they were out of stock when I was there. Has anyone seen any for sale here?
