Really good smoked trout at the kings project on Suthep rd
Thanks JC, I'll try some smoked trout too but I'm still after haddock or cod for a particular recipe.
What ya makin'?
MB, most if not all the "John Dory" here is actually Dory Fish which are not true a true Dory such as John Dory
Hoping to make a smoked haddock dish with spiced rice and eggs - a bit similar to kedgeree. Also like a smoked haddock served with a poached egg on top for breakfast. Thanks for all the suggestions - guess I'll keep looking!

Where can I buy smoked haddock or cod in CM? I did see smoked cod at (I think) Airport Rimping a few weeks ago but didn't have my freezer bag with me.
Checked out Rimping and Makro today but couldn't find any.

250cc is not really in the 'large/big bike' category.... maybe 1000cc ++ I hope that wasn't you we saw this afternoon trying to do a 'Rossi' around the moat, arse all over the seat and knee stuck out on an elderly 250cc ish machine doing all of 40 km/hr. Almost had to pull over we were laughing so much!
I can't suggest any insurers in the city but AA Insurance at Rimping Meechok can surely offer a 1st class package for you.
Ride safe.

There is an older guy at T.K. intown ( Moon muang) that puts on a cowboy hat and sings a few.
As far as older Thai guys with hats go, he's not actually all that bad. Overall it's a fun place. (Tiger Kingdom InTown)
+1
Great place.
There is also a place on the Mae Jo Road past the Mae Rim - Doi Saket Road on the right side as you are heading towards Phrao that has C&W music.
Could ypou be a bit more specific with the location please? GPS co-ords or Google Map pin would be appreciated.

Not trying to put you down. But you asked question that got me thinking. Your post said
"can anyone recommend any bars in the area -maybe with some music/TV/pool/socialise with the other customers"
It got me to thinking why is it that bars are where every one goes to socialize and meet people.
On another thread a 24 year old lady asked where she could meet some people to socialize and site see with and all the answers came back with bars. I suggested try a popular coffee house. Go see what she wanted to see and she might find like minded people there.
Just wondering.
I dont usually drink coffee in the evening but looking for a local venue where I can enjoy a couple of beers and maybe meet some new faces. I was not aware of the Bamboo Bar, can you advise directions soo that I can check it out.

There are several good restaurants with music in the San Sai area but can anyone recommend any bars in the area - maybe with some music/TV/pool/socialise with the other customers??? The Western Bar has some good live music but no bar as such and the food leaves a lot to be desired.

Thanks all, I'll check your leads out - being from the other side of the pond, I had not thought of molasses as the same thing.
BTY, BBQ/grilled pork chops with a brushed on mix of black treacle, soy sauce & garlic is tasty!

Can anyone suggest where to buy Black Treacle a la Tate & Lyle /Fowlers etc in CM? I've had a look in Rimping Meechok and Kasem in Nimmenhamen but no joy.

Thanks all, I was hoping to find a fresh/air flown chilled source but it looks like I will have to stick with the frozen stuff from Macro

I'm beginning to get withdrawl symptoms as its several months since I had a good lamb roast. Does anyone know where I can get fresh lamb here in CM?

It's in San Sai area. I was hoping that others who had some work done well might have some recommendations.

Can anyone recommend a reliable builder for a small store room extension to an existing building?

I've had good luck with the green ant killer traps. A Friend recommended the green ant poison traps - Put a few out, 2 days later no more ants.
The actual make and shop where you can get them would be helpful. There are so many varieties around.
The one I have used with good success for many years is ARS Ant Killer. It is a green plastic box about 4.5x7x1cm with clipped corners. The bait is in a foil bag and you only need a little each time. It is sold on a mostly yellow and red 10x16cm card. Close the foil bag tightly after opening to avoid moisture which will cause the bait to get sticky and limit its effectiveness, hard for ants to move a large gooey piece. The ants take the bait back to their nest to store and share. Sometimes I do not bother with the plastic box if I see active ants and just pour a little where they are, then watch them mess around and finally start hauling it off.
Where to get them is a bit difficult because I have found them out of stock often but Tops @ airport plaza has had them and I think Rimping may have stocked them in the past. Sorry no upto date info on where as I stocked up last time and have not looked recently.
I have not had luck with it for the very big black ants and as mentioned above sometimes the ants learn to avoid it but they also forget that lesson.
I bought some in Big C yesterday - lots on the shelf

Just google it - lots of recipes there to make it yourself 'n cheaper than Rimping too.

Apologies in advance, maybe not spot on topic. Can anyone suggest where I can get the best deal as I want to sell a bunch of paperbacks that I purchased new.

I'm trying to source an adaptor for my Weber BBQ charcoal lighter which has a Female 1"x20 connection. The gas cylinders used do not seem to be available here so I'm looking to find either a 1"x20 Male to 3/8" female [for camping Gas cylinder] or alternatively a 1"x20 male to bayonet connector [small cooking stove aerosol type].
I've tried several gas shops and also the camping store at Star Dome but no joy. Will try the camping store in Central but would appreciate any guidance on finding them.

If you are still struggling to find some, it is available in the swimming pool supply shops as it is used to lower the ph of the water.

I have just bought a Camry Hybrid Navi, does anyone know what system it uses i.e.Garmin?
I have a Garmin Nuvi that I use in another car and use the Thailand maps from Rotweiler.com - they have excellent mapsets for most of Asia and lifetime membership [free updates] is very reasonably priced - highly recommended!
Why in this day and age would you buy maps when they can be downloaded for free and unlocked so can use on any GPS unit.
John 1, I got my Rotweiler maps around ten years ago when I dont think there were any Thailand ones free to download - only Malsing maps of S'pore and Malaysia as I recall. Anyway, ref your post above, perhaps you can point me in the right direction to download free maps for my 2012 Camry
