So you are an expert and know that the only people who benefited are the police? You took into account what the people want, just like the BMA?

There is one reason why they want to 'clear' things up, so the rich can exploit it to the detriment of the poor.

So tell me expert, if they clear the sidewalks of the vendors then how will they be exploited by the rich? They will be clear!!

I might not be an expert but you would have to be very new to Thailand or blind in both eyes and quite ignorant not to know how the street vendors, beggars and taxi's etc etc get their spots on the streets.

I have been living here 14 years and know many vendors that have had, and still have their shops on the streets. Try talking to them and maybe you will understand and can be an expert too.

The police control all of it !!!

  2. Good riddance!!!

The sidewalks are for pedestrians, not vendors. The only people that benefit from that are the police.

    Relocate the vendors somewhere else.

IMO this is not what Bkk is about. Much better things to see and do here. If you need to buy some cheap quality overpriced stuff, go do it in a tourist trap that most tourists will likely visit during their vacation anyway.

The sidewalks are dangerous enough just due to their poor condition. Walking on the street is just suicidal though.

  3. My gf was propositioned by a monk at a temple near Hua Hin. He also convinced her to give him her phone number, whereby he began making several propositioning phone called. She eventually had to block his number to prevent the harassment. She is too scared to go to that temple anymore.

I think this happens far more than most people realize.

Refusing to admit you are wrong is very much a Thai trait.

It always strikes me as remarkable that a nation brought up on the notion of Karma (that actions have corresponding moral consequences, which must be accepted and learned from) is so averse to fessing up to their own actions and facing the results.

The biggest cowards in this area are of course the police and the military d... di.... 'dinosaurs' of Thailand.

Never admitting you're wrong is a Thai trait?

    Is Donald Trump Thai???

  5. I remember seeing a clip on a TV show about 15 years ago, before I moved to Thailand. I think the show was called Maximum Exposure or something like that ( a video clip show). Many times they showed how the Thai police were dealing with the street racers at that time as there were large groups of sometimes hundreds of racers racing down the street.

The police were standing on the side of the road with baseball bats and knocking the drivers off their bikes (at speed) with full homerun swings.

Don't know if anyone died from that.

So this doesn't surprise me at all. The cop lying about is isn't a surprise either.

  6. I would truly love to see some organized, peaceful, mass street demonstrations against RTP corruption across the whole of Thailand.

The world would see it, the Gov couldn't ignore it anymore. Maybe that would be the beginning of some real change (but TIT).

They should fire the whole lot of them, replace them with the military temporarily, and reform the system with all new officers. No more paying for your position, harsh penalties for any corruption.

They should make Billionaires exempt from all the petty b/s , he is working for free !:post-4641-1156694572:

you get what you pay for. You can bet that he will make billions more from being president than that little salary would pay him. That con artist scumbag has never, and will never do anything for free. He steals from his own charities and most contractors that have worked for him, what do you think he will do to the USA.

  8. Looking at some of these rep (Trump) apologists, it makes me wonder if the USA shouldn't have been 1st on the worlds most ignorant list.

I am not American, but since when is it ok to have your #1 enemy interfere with your elections?

If the Russians would have released info ONLY about Trump, what would we be hearing now???

If there was interference by Russia then both parties and ALL Americans should be very concerned and do everything to find out the full extent of the hacking.

This is national security. If you are a patriot and really put America first then there should really be only one clear course of action here, investigate this fully and prevent this from happening again.

Your "all seeing eye" is shut I think. When Christians were killing each other in Ireland did you brand Christianity a religion of non-peace? Isis is just the Muslim version of Christianity's Klu Klux Klan. Perhaps SOME of the women wear the veil. So What? I was brought up in the Anglican Church and as an altar boy I has to wear a dress. Do you actually know any Muslims or do you just read and listen to all the ultra right creeps spouting their propaganda? They would do the same as Isis is if they could. My doctor is a Muslim as is my pharmacist and one of my close friends. They are all beautiful people. I don't hear you complaining about what the Buddhists are doing to the Muslims in Myanmar. Do you claim Buddhism to be a religion of violence too? Grow up and think for yourself. Nearly all of the violence being perpetrated now by "so called" Muslims is on other Muslims. Use your all seeing eye to discover the truth.

Actually, I think ALL religion is stupid. I was just commenting on this particular incident. I do not see any religion that is not corrupt and used for the sole purpose of controlling people and/or bilking them of their hard earned money with the promise of eternal salvation.

Every religion's first rule is not to kill yet they all kill in the name of their own "one true religion"

As for Buddhism, we may not see the same kind of violence from them but if you read the news at all you will see almost daily examples of the extreme greed and corruption that you will see from all other religions, and if you think that Thai buddhists for example, are not violent, then you really need to open your eyes.

  10. Crappy programs that repeat over and over. The same stupid commercials that play every 10 mins or sometimes back to back. Subtitles, blurring out guns and even cigarettes!!!

I gave up Truevisions 5 years ago and don't miss it a bit.

I download everything now and have almost unlimited choices of what I want to watch and when and fully unedited and uncensored.

Screw you Truevisions!!! I hope everyone cancels their subscriptions and you lose your ass.

A point to note here is that four of these five are Australian born descendants of Lebanese refugees from the 80's and 90's. Recent arrivals from Iraqi and Syria have other things on their mind. More licentious views should be tempered by this.

It principally is a second generation problem of low integration, poor employment prospects, very poor secondary and tertiary education level despite opportunities, and fundamentally preferring some ridiculous romanticised picture as told by their parents because of their own failed expectations.

This group in particular, compare poorly to the Vietnamese and even contemporary Afghani refugees / settlers. They are not all the same.

And a belief in a religion that claims to be that of peace while openly hating all that do not agree with their beliefs and condoning the atrocities committed in it's name.
