  1. Thanks guys.

<<< Flaming comments edited out of post >>>

Wow ... that could be a little holiday ....

Look Alex ...you must be a little new here as it's a trait of Thai ladies - sweet isn't it... maybe not to your extent though... but many would agree that ... I don't need Google - My wife knows everything.

Just look at the bottom line of this post.

One could suggest this trait is not just present in thai ladies only, but ladies the world over LOL

Can concur totally, around the world.... Learn about Women in general young man...........that's half the battle, just let them win once in a while, (even tho they are wrong....) Life will get much better then..

  2. thai's get 15 day visa exempt for free for Cambodia,

the border pass is only for those without a passport

    Casinos are PAST immigration

The casinos are before the Cambodian immigration, so no Camb. visa is needed. I don't know if Thailand will stamp you out if you tell them you are just going to the casinos. I have not been that way yet.

When I came from Cambodian side, they did not stamp we out, so I could go back and forth to Cambodia if I wanted. I ended up staying in the zone, the Diamond Casino has a nice restaurant Chillax, good western food, see some reviews of hotels on tripadvisor.

Blackjack is only 100 baht/hand. Thais mostly play Baccarat and fan tan. Everything is in Baht.

Nope, you are quite wrong; phuketrichard is correct. The casinos are past Cambodian immigration; they are fully inside Cambodia. Trust me, I spent a week in Poipet facilitating a workshop for casino workers.

NO AJAAN, You are wrong, casinos ARE in the middle, the immigrations are on either end, straight shot to Cambodia border from Thailand, the middle is casinos (NO MANS LAND). I was there in Dec 2013,

  3. Good chance he's not going to stop.Be careful if he does.He might press the officials to have you pay for the damages of the motorcycle that you had caused.Ya definitely need to watch your back.

Ridiculous. This is just a Thai Bashing National Theme Song. Your membership in that group is now good for another year........

You are not so well informed, so I will fill you in: I was struck from behind while parked off the road and was hit from behind by a under-aged driver (15, no lic, , no ins., no helmet,) the head of the police station gave the accident a 50/50 fault so my 1st class ins. would pay for his bike and my rates went up, nothing to the kid, all with my ins. agent standing calmly by............. not so bashing here...................

  4. Please excuse a complete luddite's question, but where do I buy a Windows disk, would I get a genuine copy somewhere like Tucom (Pattaya)? Also, will I still be able to get Windows 7, I'm familiar with that so prefer to stay with what I know.

  5. I believe Thailand is the only country in the world to ban Bitcoin. Can't say I'm surprised there. Growth and change is not something Thais are interested in. Not to mention, they can't manipulate it, so no interest.

From the article that the bartender dude posted, to wit:

"The reason for the panic is that the Chinese state has stopped financial firms from dealing with Bitcoin exchanges, which makes it almost impossible for anyone in China to buy or sell Bitcoin for yuan."

That sounds a lot like "banning." Are you ever correct about anything?

    lol

  6. Walking around with a wad of Australian dollars or Thai baht after exchanging one to the other would probably not be a good idea.

Either using the ATM or a Thai bank account would be the better choices. It would depend in part on how long you intend to be here and whether this is a one-off visit or you plan to come here regularly.

Opening a Thai bank account while here on a tourist visa is possible, especially in touristy areas, but it sometimes takes a bit of going from branch to branch before you find a manager willing to permit it. Then you would need to figure out a way to make the transfers from your bank in Australia. If there's a branch of a Thai bank in Australia (??) it might make the transferring easier, but it's still possible to make transfers if not. But there would be various fees incurred and a likely delay between requesting the transfer and getting the baht in your hands.

So probably the easier option is bringing a small amount of cash and using the ATM as needed. If you'll be here for an extended period or expect to return from time to time you can explore banking options while you're here. If you think you may open a Thai bank account, talk with your Australian banker about costs and methods of making transfers either before travelling or while away from home ... most likely requiring Internet access to you home bank account.

Such transfers should be denominated in AUS $ and let the Thai bank do the conversion. Do not ask your Australian bank to make a Thai Baht transfer. Doing a baht transfer will get you poor rates and your Thai bank will charge more for the transaction.

Visa card to withdraw baht in 30000baht lots?

You may find your withdrawals limited to Baht 10,000 by Thai ATMs.

A.T.M. 30k days long gone, BKK Bank still 25K, most are 20K, good luck................

  8. It was an opportunity theft that could of been avoided by the owner of the bag but still the same its stealing.

Hope he gets caught and shammed on social media and local news.

48 hours in the lock up and 3000 baht fine and kicked out of Thailand should be the penalty.

Its a low life thing to do and it he should be treated accordingly.

Why should he get 48hours and a 3000b fine???? A fake watch seller who stabed his client / victim got a 500b fine!!!!! What are you thinking??? Oh thats right he's a FAT FALONG, sorry
