I have no idea how long I will live for.
How long is a piece of string?
How can anyone have the right number, just hope to live as long as possible, healthily, would not want to be a vegetable.
Numbers are meaningless, just live for today.

A good friend of mine got a full dragon on his back in Pinky's (done over several sessions).
Thing is, not only was it on his back so he never saw it, but he was fat and NEVER went to the beach or took his shirt off, so none of his friends ever saw it.... he died a virgin from a heart attack at 34.... so he didn't even use it to impress the ladies.
There was a photo of his back with the tattoo outside Pinky's. That was the only way I ever saw it.
I've always thought that was one of the saddest and most pathetic things anyone I've ever known could have done.
Why would you be so disrespectful to a good friend calling him pathetic.?
Seems to me like he had some life challenges. Not really his fault
In way I'm glad he is not around to read your comments some good friend eh?

Same here
I never smoked and never had a tattoo , personally I don't find it attractive, but I understand why others might find it attractive.
My Brother in law was a one pack a day smoker, we commuted to work together in the US , and one day he asked me to get him a pack of Marlboros red. I was shocked to find out that at NYC they were , if I remember correctly $12 a pack, so I did the math. 12x30= 360. I said "Kevin do you realise that you spend over 360 a month for cigarettes ? brother I said ' that could be the payment on a brand new F150!! (that was a few years ago ) god only knows how much it would cost now days. Same for tattoos. I told my daughter " Honey I only want three things from you, 'Don't smoke cigarettes, stay away from drugs, and don't get tattoos. because what you find important to write on your body now, might not be imported or desirable 40 years from now. So one day she shows up with tattoos on her ankles, smoking a cigarette . I guess two out of three is not bad.
To be fair, your daughter is definatley NOT going to tell you if she is doing drugs...so I would not be so confident

One year has passed since my Rezum experience.
Pleased to report there are no issues with the prostate; flow remains excellent and I regularly sleep 7 hours straight without needing to void.
The wedding tackle remains in full operation with no ED or EjD.
I did have an issue with a UTI that proved more stubborn than I thought these things could be.
I took myself up to Bria Labs in Lad Phrao for my regular blood panel and asked for a urine culture.3 days later, they sent me the results showing a resistant strain of E.coli.
The report listed a number of antibiotics that the strain was vulnerable to including Augmentin, an Amoxicillin and Clavulanic acid concoction.
Took those twice a day for 2 weeks and they cleared up the UTI completely.Sadly, however, the Augmentin has taken out my gut flora (also known as "healthy bacteria") so I've noticed changes to my stool that haven't resolved more than two weeks since finishing the course.
Congratulations
I went for a TURP and my results were catastrophic

OP. what medication did your UK doctor put you on?
I have BPH , classed as obstructive although I pee normally. Currently on a combination of dutasteride and tamsulosin. Previously, I was prescribed finasteride and doxazosin.
I asked my urologist if I would be better off having a TURP or similar surgical procedure. His advice was to stick with medication for as long as possible, because surgery carried a significant risk of creating other problems, such as impotence and retrograde ejaculation.
He's right!
After I had my TURP operation I have had nothing but trouble.....so much pain, I was taking Oxy ....that's another story...Xylophone is the only guy that knows my story.....but 4 years since the operation to reduce my prostrate size, I am impotent have to wear a diaper all the time because of leakage.....tried yet another op and nearly died from Septasemia, heart failure , renal failure...and this was caused by one of the top hospitals in BKK
I should have had rezum , a lot more expensive, but in hindsight I really wish I had......I have spent almost 2m in hospitals here, but things have calmed down, no pain now and I am off Morphine and Methadone.
I get the odd UTI now and then but have Monurol for that, but urologists in Thailand's supposedly best hospitals really made a mess of me.
Don't have a turp....putting metal inside such a delicate organ is just not a good idea.
Good luck

What on earth happend here.?
9 years ago everything was looking good, then suddenly 9 years without a post!!
Obviously no bowling in HH
It's a shame, I was in a bowling club in CM and it's a great way for us old 'uns to get some exercise and making friends

No, I just can't be bothered to try and read this thread...it's taking me more time to navigate through the ads than it is to read the thread....I can find all this on other forums anyway.....
The owners want to sell Thai Visa, well good luck with that I hardly visit anymore, when Jonathan Fairfield's company sold TV it was in good condition, Asean only care about advertising revenue not the members of which there are very very few left from the good old days of TV, it was a real community and we socialized regularly, in fact one of my mates is flying in for a visit from NZ , I met this guy almost 20 years ago on this forum and we are best freinds.
I hope they do sell it and that the new owners will remember that without people like us they are nothing

Obviously some income streams like state pensions may be exempt but private pensions would seem to be fair game, even if they've already paid tax on the income in their home countries.
But then again no
Most of us pay tax on our private pensions...so that would be double taxation no?

Don't forget to get your bank letter the same day if you are going solo...if using an agent you can normally push it.
I did that in CM this year and for some reason they did not accept the visa agents offering and made me do it again.
First visit to HH Immigration at Bluport to register that I had moved to HH was a pleasant experience.
Chiang Mai Immigration is always heaving...I ddnt like it much, which is why I used an agent for the last 5 years, so many ex pats up there now...and they are getting younger.
Anyway you have done it now, hope it all went well?

They certainly would send to Hua Hin from their Bangkok office, l suspect they would also do so from Chiang Mai.
When she applies she would pay a nominal fee for courier delivery (they send EMS) and she would also write the delivery address on the envelope, so assuming you already have the address, l don’t think there would be a problem.
My wife applied for her visa earlier this year and was going to collect from Bangkok as we had a new address, she later asked if they would sent to our new Hua Hin address, and they did.
Thanks OG

I am just about to renew my wife' visitor visa to the UK.
We have no plans to go at the moment but it will be either a 5 or 10 year one as before. We will be going sometime in the near future I am just not sure when
The problem arises that we are moving from Chiang Mai to Hua Hin in just over 4 weeks and they are saying that it takes up to 5 weeks to process a visa.
As there is no VFS in HH she would need to make at least one trip to Bangkok to make her biometrics so I would rather do it here where we have a VFS office.
I really need to know if they would post the passport to HH instead of having to collect it?
Many thanks

After reading your answers to my question, I don't think Samui would be right for me.
I rely on good hospitals a lot now after a life of deborchary it's been catching up with me lately and I need hospitals.
I can't get health insurance, I am uninsurable, if some of you follow the Health Forum I was a regular poster on that up to a year ago but things are better for now.
I am in CM , have been for almost 20 years, only been to Samui once , and that was before I moved to Thailand.
Figure I would probably fit in in Hua Hin
I'm coming up 70, have spent a lot of time there recently sussing it out, I have sold my house , I've gotta get away from the annual burning, my doc says it would do me the world of good to "go south".
But before I make that leap, I just wanted to throw Samui into the mix and you guys have helped open my eyes regarding why it would not be so good for me.
I thank every poster for taking the time to write their thoughts here
Much obliged

Hi
Is Samui suitable for retirees or is it more suitable for younger people?
I would like to have your opinions
Cheers

Because normally any negative posts about AN, particularly about ads closed immediately. I could barely write this post without 6 pop ups. You can't even see what u are writing
That's one of the things I was alluding to.
It's difficult writing this post now
I'm thinking its not worth the effort anymore

I'm surprised thread still open?
Why not?
I have been a member for many years.
I'm only giving my opinion as a long standing member.
The powers that be might consider it a valid post, if it's turning people like me away from the forum then that's not what they are aiming to achieve.
If nobody speaks up then nothing changes.
It may change, but it probably won't
We will see!

Adverts are ruining this site along with great difficulty navigating the site
Thai Visa is just not what it was
That's a shame I've been here almost 20 years, had a stint as a moderator , tough job, kudos to those that still do it.
I've seen the vast majority come and go down the years and I am sad at what I see now
This is just something I want to get off my chest, I doubt anyone will notice

5 hours ago, FaltuMora said:I live in the USA for six months and in Thailand for six months (September to mid March). I use an agent assisted retirement visa for 12,500 BHT in Pattaya (I know there are other options for free/low cost but it best suites me for now). I am 63 and waiting for 67 when I get my full SS annuity from FRA at $3500/month. I have been drawing $3K from my savings for my expenses in the USA and also in Thailand. I have a condo in Pattaya. I don't drink but smoke weed almost everyday. Getting an intimate date with a sugar baby in the USA costs an average $5K in addition to my monthly expenses. Hence, my saving is also dwindling rapidly.
I ran a Montel Carlo simulation with 5-7% market return to see how long my savings will last using the mean average of my monthly expenses of the last year and the outcome is not good. It will last 10 more years when I included my 3.5K SS from the age 67.
I was thinking if I move to Thailand for 11 months a year, I can reduce my expenses and also have more intimate dates with sugar babies and my savings will last longer.
Here are my planning.
1. An insurance if I live in Thailand for 11 months.
2. Get an LTR visa at 67 (Need some other type of income like some type of immediate annuity for remaining 40K required for 80K USD monthly pension requirements).
What are your thoughts? Is it a workable solution for my predicament?
5,000 $ a month on hookers!!!
I must be mistaken

Warranty is five years for a structure and one year for non-structural parts.
But this is not law right?
I was told the house I am buying had a 5 year warranty by the agents, but now just before I have to pay my full 10% I find that it's only one year!
But I had nothing in writing from the agents so I can't prove that I was mislead.
This bothers me a lot, it was the main reason for buying new build
Any comments?

I was seasoned many years ago, working in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. A bout of sandfly fever, then basically immune from then on.
You may be one of those people who has developed an excessive immune response to the bite. It gets worse with every bite, so your best strategy is to avoid sandfly areas entirely.
I don't know about sandflies being attracted to certain people. I do know if there is a mosquito in our bedroom, it will home in on my GF every time, and ignore me.
Yikes, I'm in the process of moving to HH to enjoy the beaches, looks like that is gonna be a challenge now!

Does anyone else really suffer with these little critters?
I got a pasting just walking on the beach on Friday, brought Deet yesterday and put on liberally this morning but got a bite as soon as I sat down which has made my forearm swell up like Popeye.!
I was also recommended Sanobet cream and calamine lotion, but right now it's really quite painful and just keeps on swelling.
It seems for some unknown reason they are attracted to me, I was sitting with 3 others in a deck chair on the beach and nobody else got bitten....why me?
For long term expats, is your average life expectancy based on your home country or Thailand?
