I understand there are 20 hospitals in Gaza, al-Shifa being just one. However.... Two premature babies die, 37 under threat at Gaza’s al-Shifa Hospital https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/11/11/37-babies-at-risk-of-dying-in-gaza-hospital-israel-says-to-aid-evacuation

the ICRC also facilitated the two hostage release operations. https://www.icrc.org/en/document/icrc-president-tells-paris-conference-gaza-immediate-imperative-is-to-save-lives#:~:text=As a trusted neutral actor, failing to protect civilian lives.

Yes I know Israel provides medical care for some Gazans. I was thinking of realties of survival of moving Intensive care patients. It has been reported some have already died due to lack of power for critical care babies.
-
Nonsense. The article regards ICRC concerns, was not hand ringing, but reporting issues raised by a highly respected organisation. One can equally claim Israeli government is treating Gazan injured as bargaining chips. Why would local Arabs would wish to surrender their lands to Israel interests - has Israeli government committed to ceasing their Arab land grabs - so far as I know "No". Right now I cannot envisage an end to the Israeli / Palestinian conflict, unless there is change to governing bodies on both sides enabling a 'Two State" solution

One assumes an IDF facility would be OK for non critical injuries, but not those in intensive care, life support etc

ICRC 'shocked and appalled' by reports of situation at al-Shifa hospital https://www.theguardian.com/world/live/2023/nov/11/israel-hamas-war-live-staff-report-catastrophic-situation-in-main-gaza-hospital-aid-agency-says-as-fighting-intensifies?filterKeyEvents=false&page=with:block-654f5d358f08c3ba45a51224#block-654f5d358f08c3ba45a51224

Quite so - the Palestinian people - whom some endeavour to deny their historical rights to land in the region. As has been mentioned numerous times the political leaders have been abject failures in representation. Whilst people have the legal right to demonstrate for Palestinian rights in the UK, it is not appropriate to do so on Remembrance Day, even though doing so will gain additional media coverage.

Video link above deleted for brevity. Unfortunately some people indulge in semantics, official US government documented history states: Throughout 1947, the United Nations Special Commission on Palestine examined the Palestinian question and recommended the partition of Palestine into a Jewish and an Arab state. https://history.state.gov/milestones/1945-1952/creation-israel#:~:text=On November 29%2C 1947 the, mandate was scheduled to end.

The OP should have provided a link for some background. Rather the usual rush to vilify do a bit of research. A statement from the head of Met Police: organisers of Saturday’s march had shown “complete willingness to stay away from the Cenotaph and Whitehall and have no intention of disrupting the nation’s remembrance events”. “Should this change, we’ve been clear we will use powers and conditions available to us to protect locations and events of national importance at all costs,” Sir Mark said. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/armistice-day-palestine-demo-rememberence-saturday-b2443411.html

Keir Starmer has publicly opposed a ceasefire in Gaza, contrary to the position of some of his MPs, which contradicts the allegation made above. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/video/2023/oct/31/keir-starmer-says-now-is-not-the-time-for-a-ceasefire-in-gaza-video "The Telegraph understands the error may have occurred because Sir Keir moved the poppy from his suit jacket to his overcoat after the speech" https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2023/11/02/starmer-row-poppy-islamophobia-awareness-campaign/

As their soldiers fight hand to hand in Gaza, Israelis wonder about the endgame In the dark and the cloying heat of a Gaza night, the troops of the 13th Battalion of Israel’s Golani Brigade were attempting to advance in northern Gaza amid the flashes of air and artillery strikes across the Gaza Strip. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/nov/04/as-their-soldiers-fight-hand-to-hand-in-gaza-israelis-wonder-about-the-endgame?utm_term=6546e91b1f2a1b7e33dd5398a773e0b9&utm_campaign=GuardianTodayAUS&utm_source=esp&utm_medium=Email&CMP=GTAU_email

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Saturday both Washington and Arab states believe the status quo of a Hamas-controlled Gaza cannot continue and that he has discussed with his Arab counterparts how to chart a better path forward towards a two-state solution. So far as I know HAMAS discussion are primarily brokered via Egypt/Qatar. Would be fascinating to know the give and take for the exit of hundreds of foreign passport holders via the Southern Gaza border. I assume there are numerous political issues for the Muslim world not to specifically critique HAMAS in the open, rather blame Israel because of it's policies. Naturally there is no justification for the mass murder of civilians. It's interesting that worldwide only 44 nations have openly condemned HAMAS. https://www.washingtoninstitute.org/policy-analysis/international-reactions-hamas-attack-israel I presume it would be a death sentence for Gazans to openly protest against HAMAS. Don't known the response in the West Bank, though I assume there are numerous HAMAS operatives there.

The allegation of 'collective punishment' will be addressed by legal process - for the meantime I disagree with your argument. From various media reports hospitals in Gaza are unable to address the care of the injured and critically ill. If interested members can reference below yesterday a number of cancer patients have died due to insufficient fuel at a hospital; URL below... https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/gazas-only-cancer-hospital-goes-out-service-health-officials-2023-11-01/ I suggest patient deaths will be increasing specifically due to the Israeli blockade. The Israeli government, IMO, are holding the general public in Gaza as hostages as an attempt to influence HAMAS decision makers. So far as I know the general public have zero power to change HAMAS decision making. As has been reported by media a number of Western governments have been counselling Israel their current stance could well backfire politically for ongoing Western support though I'm fairly certain that any negative outcomes for Israel will be limited.
-
I do not support .HAMAS. HAMAS rule by the gun, so far as I know the majority of the Gaza population do not support HAMAS Israel has ceased supply of energy to Gaza, which IMO is 'collective punishment - War Crime. Your comments regards the power station are irrelevant.
-
Thanks. Reference is to the Rutenberg power station which only provides 15% of Israeli power requirements, no mention of supplying Gaza. In any case the Israelis cut off power supply to Gaza. IMO collective punishment which is contrary to the Rules of War and no I am not a supporter of Hamas. BTW about time you ceased such comment regards other members of the forum and other false assumptions.
-
When did Hamas attack the power station in Israel providing power for Gaza? Power is running out on local infrastructure within Gaza due to insufficient fuel because of the Israeli blockade. Israel has promised fuel supply for hospitals, but I guess would be extremely difficult to monitor so may not occur. Unsure if Egypt would step up. Clarity on the legal issues concerning War Crimes is provided below: https://www.atlanticcouncil.org/blogs/menasource/hamas-israel-war-crimes/

I I'm sure you're capable of researching the answers to your questions, so rather than wasting my time with your games... https://www.icc-cpi.int/ https://www.hrw.org/news/2020/09/02/qa-international-criminal-court-and-united-states

Content from above post deleted for brevity. I'm well aware of the shortcomings with ICC, just as some should be knowledgeable some of the contributing factors e.g. US does not support the functions of ICC for political reasons. But the ICC is well known and any actions such as investigations and charges for War Crimes do have a global audience. IMO it is very vile ICC is not supported by some governments for nationalistic domestic political consumption.
-
Your reply is in reference to a post regarding ICC. Your comments are incorrect, ICC is not a a member group of the UN. There have been a number of organisations alleging War Crimes, including UN representatives, by HAMAS and Israel. e.g... https://apnews.com/article/israel-hamas-war-journalists-international-court-investigation-ef7ec4fa597add8fb49d17358acf2576 https://publichealth.jhu.edu/2023/the-rules-of-war-and-human-rights-in-the-israel-hamas-war https://www.pbs.org/newshour/world/why-hamas-and-israel-are-both-alleged-to-have-broken-international-rules-of-war

...And the result is a resounding NO.

No misunderstanding by me. A referendum would not be abandoned due to poll/s feedback. It is crystal clear the attitude of those 'informing' the No vote. The garbage feeding feed into the community was the feed by extreme right negativity. The only method of creating new laws in Oz is via the State or Federal government, this fact was totally ignored by those generating the fog of ignorance. -

The 'NO' campaign was non-stop with misinformation, unsupported allegations, assumptions and so on. The PM and 'Yes' supporters failed to counter the nonsense. Dutton should hang his head in shame, I doubt Dutton will ever become PM as he is so divisive.
