  1. Well, I was going to say maybe the Chinese coming in will prevent the bubble from bursting, until I read this. My old house in "Cali" went down to 1/3 the value of it's peak value after that sub-prime fiasco. If anyone knew with 100% certainty the answer to your questions, they could become very, very rich. The only way to know with 100% certainty, is to CAUSE THE ACTION. That thought opens up an interesting can of worms.

  2. change the political ban from 5 years to life

scrap the immunity to prosecution while in office

change how certain bills and all constitutional changes are passed through the house requiring 2/3 majority vote

and they will be well on the way to a stable government and society - all the criminals and power abuse will be gone for good

A good, solid, simple start! Hear, hear! Also improve (raise) the social security retirement award. Parents are driving their children to make money at ANY COST, so that the children can support their parents in their old age. In this vein, the future will be as corrupt as the present. But this would require some kind of tax, so not a populist procedure. Culture=Traditions.

  3. And some education here......the name of the crab "Scylla" means female dog in Greek.

Except it doesn't. A Greek bitch is skýla - notice the single lambda.

Scylla was a mythological monster which lived on one side of straights dangerous to sailors, with Charybdis (another monster) on the opposite side of the water.

The crab is so named after its monstrous size.

Fond memories of fresh cooked Dungeness Crab (Cancer Magister) with fresh San Francisco sour dough French bread on Fisherman's Wharf. How do some of you guys know so much? Seriously.

  4. I don't like the hang-down plastic bottle down low on the front of the downtube. Also, a kick starter ONLY would be fun for about a week. With short rides downtown, how many times are you going to have to kick it over with piston positioning and compression release timing in a month? If you take long rides I think you should add a throttle friction screw, for lack of a better term, so you can ride "no hands". That's what I used to do on my Matchless 650. Otherwise your hands and forearms go numb. Although, maybe Yamy has the balance sorted out, Dunno. Never rode one. I like the CB500X for 40,000 less.

I think you are mixing the bikes up, the SR400 has kick start only, but the Bolt have electric start.

Thanks for not calling me bad names. I would have deserved it. But, to add, I've read a few reviews and they're all very positive.

OK, now throw out this and think "Yamaha 400cc single". I am SO LOSE'N IT! BOLT GOOD! BRAIN BAD!!!!

  6. Priorities in solving this case.

1: keep tourist revenue coming in.

    2: face.

3: make sure someone who doesn't matter did it.

4: deny any flaws in case.

5: justice and the truth or at least an acceptable form of both to ensure 1-4 happen.

6: well number 1 at the very least.

    .

    1. Face

    2. Face

    3. More Face

    4. Even more Face

    5. Get out of my face.

Let's face it. It's no farce that face is the ace in this place.

  7. <script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script>

Now the mafia have military support? Read my lips " there is no mafia in Thailand" I wonder what they call them?

The Alliance for Reform and Resolution aka ARR (pronounced "arrrr" ) ? You know like pirate talk.

"Arrrrr! And them's what died be the lucky ones!" (Long John Silver) If the powers don't come down with both feet hard, and "in the news" over this, I am going to lose some enthusiasm. I am full of it right now. (Enthusiasm, that is.)

  8. Bangkok is built on a river delta, over mud which conducts shock waves very well ... Mexico City and Christchurch [NZ] have similar characteristics.  Major faults and subsequent tremors may be 10's or 100's of km's away, horizontally or vertically, and feel very powerful on the 19th floor of a BKK highrise, yet pass unnoticed at ground level.

Liquefaction.  Larger damage in SF, Cali down on the filled areas, as opposed to higher, firmer ground,  some years ago.  Interesting that both Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai have little red lines pointing at them on the fault map.

  9. Find some "Cranberry Extract" capsules. I used to produce kidney stones like a gravel pit. About eight years ago I started taking three 4,600mg Natures Valley Cranberry Fruit capsules every day and haven't had a stone since. Check them out! Many people take them for 'uniary tract health' and the really work!

Yep, even just cranberry juice as part of your fluid intake is good. It also helps women with frequent urinary infections. I never researched the chemical mechanism. Maybe something like the "lime reduction chemical" you use in your toilet? w00t.gif

  10. "My Wife is buying a condo form a friend of ours who is American, Ive told her its ok to put it in just her name"

If your building is popular with farangs then you may be doing yourself a disservice. If the farang quota is fully used (as it often is in good buildings in tourist areas) then a unit in Thai name will probably be worth less than one in farang name.

Of course if there aren't that many farang owners in your building then it doesnt matter.

This sounds like an excellent point.

  11. I don't think you're wealthy enough for the Malaysia program.

Cambodia lacks great medical care and probably when they have it, they'll tighten up their very liberal "business visa" scheme.

Kind of radical, but maybe Ecuador?

    Good ideas Jingthing,

The Malaysia second home is not the only option for Malaysia. I get a 90 day entry without a visa there. I'm sure if the OP spent part of the year there it would clear his in-out history here in Thailand.

Cambodia definitely lacks the medical care, that's why I thought of Koh Kong, it's very close to Trat which has Thai hospitals doing a booming business with Cambodian customers. Don't forget medical extensions of stay in Thailand are also possible if necessary.

Ecuador is not radical at all, also Panama is quite friendly. I believe Thai nationals can get 180 day admitted until there. I'm not sure about Philippine nationals.

A medical extension would only be granted if a doctor certified that he was too ill to travel and would not provide a long term option even if granted once.

It seems the O/P pretty much asked the same question before http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/731151-what-is-the-correct-visa-in-my-situation/#entry7918970

... and received some suggestions. Unfortunately it's unlikely any new options have come up since then. If anything, the options have become fewer or less likely since when you asked the question in June.

If nothing is possible in Thailand you really need to consider some place else to live that has what you want or need and fits your budget.

Google Ecuador and check out Loja, Ecuador also. High altitude, good climate, it's OK. Cheap as here, easy visa, no 90 day check-ins, and I heard you can get an Ecuadorian Passport after 3 years there. Spanish is not so hard. Your Filipina probably can speak it, or a lot of it?

  12. chief of humanitarian organisation CARE USA said that "Aside from funding early-warning signals, CARE is helping vulnerable communities alter their way of life through initiatives such as introducing flood-resistant livestock."

With the above quote makes me question the point of the whole article, sounds more like a sales pitch for CARE. Would love to know more about flood resistant livestock?

    FISH.

  13. I sadly agree with, and understand everything posted above. It's too bad. Just to throw one in from left field..... Do Chinese teachers speak the same words, but in Chinese, on the Chinese teachers' web forum? It's probably very difficult to teach any child not to be so self focused. If humans are now "global beings", we should have global awareness. Our "spaceship" is getting very crowded.

  14. I'm hoping for a Burger King. licklips.gif.pagespeed.ce.v-hsVd-Wpu.gif

Have it your way! I would be a regular, but it would have to have some parking available! A not overly large dirt bike and a sense of adventure will let you cover most of the area within a day's ride in about 2 years. I've followed many a road til it was dirt, then a trail, then a dead end path to a bamboo hut. The "mountains" north of the city (northern area of the province) are Chiangrai's natural blessing. The city, pretty much is what it is.

  15. Surly more good than bad could be done if they just annex the property instead of destroying the property? Think of the revenue the forest reserve could earn by renting out the rooms and bungalows to foreigners and the people in the holiday season.

Yellowstone National Park and Yosemite National Park have places to stay. You must reserve early in the day, the maximum 365 days in advance, or they're already booked. "Nature" is usually a far piece from civilization.

  16. Yep, a couple of days ago I got 4 sms'es from my local Ford dealer. (In Thai) I deleted them as I can't read Thai, but I would guess they were alerting me to a similar offer. (How do you write a multiple sms, anyway!) The new 3 cylinder 1000cc turbo is super cool!

  17. so, the headlines reads "machete-welding", but then says "knife wounds", and the cops are trying to figure out what happened. Does ANYONE have any actual FACTS???

"...a machete, known locally as a “sparta knife”."

..hence knife wounds. Not difficult to understand really if you possess the ability to read.

I find this hard to fathom....I presume most TVF members to be normal, decent men so why do so many of you demean others in a forum when you wouldn't consider saying that to someone's face?

It's not just you..so many 'contributors' seem to have this gene. Get in front of a keyboard and a different persona takes over.TVF is a tiresome, lonely little place seemingly full of bitter and angry men. I just don't get it.

And for the record, the previous comment was well within the bounds of rational reading.

    +1 (+10,000 ?)
