  1. As I have said before: If you could have a look at the daily or weekly or monthly police reports and criminal incidents reports you would learn that this sort of crazy thing is not uncommon .

We simply do not hear about ALL the incidents ...and if you did you would really have second thoughts about staying here ...especially if you were to digest all the gruesome details.

When I first came to Thailand and started living here full time back in 1987 I remember nearly all the newspaper and magazine stands on the street had the usual array of information and news print and magazines to purchase along with several separate publication that covered the police and crime activities throughout the country,  printed and published on a weekly basis

Often I would have a look at the various police and crime magazines and see page after page of gruesome death reports and murders and  deadlyroad accident photos and crime scene instigation reports while the owner of the magazine stand would gladly explain to me the details, all written in Thai of course, while I was trying to learn and understand Thai.

Hit man killings and rival business men killing one another......... Wife murders husband .....Husband murders wife....Husband murders lover of wife ...Wife murders lover of husband..... Shoot outs and killings between gangs......Shoot outs between gangs and police .......Drunken brawls turned violent with knifes or bottles or machetes or guns used and all too often....Dead bodies found in the rice fields and abandoned building sites and irrigation canals and the side of the road and just dumped off.........Revenge killings and revenge attacks...Arson ...Plenty of suicides also.......Plenty of robberies and robberies with assault ....Lots and lots of rape cases and wife beating cases and child abuse cases.....Drug trafficking arrests and weapons cache seizures........Brothels being raided and sex clubs being shut down...... and what ever constitutes a crime worthy of publishing in their police and crime magazines while commonly the different magazines would have the same story ...but additional photos and not seen in the other publications.

Then I did not see them being sold after several years along with the soft porn girly magazines that had photos of semi nude girls and always included contact numbers with the girls photos....and long before cell phones.

Maybe they still publish them but I have not seen them or obviously on display like I used to.

The police and crime report magazines made me realize that the Thais are just as screwed up as everyone while they do not have the meaning of life figured out any better than the rest of the people, while outsiders seem to think the whole nation is at peace with itself...or at least the illusion that is cast.

    Cheers

  2. Speaking of overweight  people.

When I was in Angeles city many years ago I was siting at a road side bar and there was this big and over weight guy who was trying to get into one of the Trikes.

He got half way in and more or less wedged himself in and could not fit his head in under the canopy and more or less stuck.

Hard to explain how he was all contorted and could not get in any further while stuck and could not get out also

After about 20 seconds of everyone puzzled as to what was happening the Filipinos realised he was stuck and hurting so 2 guys and then finally 4 people pulling and pushing on him and finally got him unstuck

He was angry and started kicking the Tricycle and cursing at the "Stupid Trike".

    Go figure.

But they are too small as anyone over 5,10 has to maneuver they way into the affair and sit there slouched down because the over head canopies are too low not allowing a "taller" person to sit upright.

As for the big overweight guy he should not have even attempted to get into the small trike as there was nearly no room for him to fit in and especially the even smaller opening for entering and exiting.

i dont understand why peaple keep referring to these creatures as LADYboys they are men dressed up as women and should be called katoys.

In this case, and for the record,  they would be referred to as:  Thieving, criminal conduct men dressed like women and used as a guise to approach and then attack and rob people.

No need to be PC about this ...lol

  4. But it is acceptable practice to charge more for foreigners.......especially the ones that can not speak Thai and really have no Idea what the reasonable charge would be...as how would they...so they pay the requested or demanded price while thinking / believing: "Hey that was cheap enough"...compared to their home country ...but, in reality, paid 2 to 3 to 4 times more than any local Thai person would pay.

So no need for the Fat people surcharge as there are plenty of Foreigners around to "Over Charge" ( but not rip off,  of course, as that is dishonest and illegal ) but overcharging is acceptable practice and "Thai Style" ...while the nice motorcycle taxi guys actually give you the correct change back....... seeing as they are so honest and trustworthy and all ....lol

  5. The government officials are more than likely frowning upon this sort of activity thinking it makes "them" lose face ..in some way.

The man could also walk the streets and find some truly needy people and cripples and out casts and the down and out and help them with money and or give them work tasks to do with pay and or jobs and employment to revive the peoples dignity and a variety of means and ways to help the poorest of the poor often found barely surviving on the streets.

There are plenty of such cases to keep the man busy with his charitable conduct.

A line up would easily include all too many who do not need the money nearly as much as so many others...but still,  the idea is correct ...spread the money around.

The other wealthy Thais, including members of the current Military Government should be doing the same...correct??

  6. I have watched the HIT video over and over again.

Tell me if I am wrong, but the hit mans face is clear but distanced and somewhat minimised in the video

If the image of the hit mans face is expanded on then they can easily know the face of the killer.

Or am I wrong and computer technology does not allow for the video image of the hit mans face to be expanded upon.

Or is that only in Hollywood movies...lol

  7. As others have said, the child and or the father will not have any problems if the child overstays on whatever visa the child is on or uses to enter the country.

They do not enforce the overstay rules on children under 15.

However, the immigration authorities and the Thai embassies and the Thai consulates and any Immigration lawyer familiar with Thai immigration laws will ALWAYS advise you to arrange for the child to have proper immigration status.

If it is long term and involves the 1 year extensions then the dates should be the same dates as the fathers so in effect the beginning of your 1 year extension is the beginning of your child's one year extension and ending at the same time and needing to renewed at the same time your extension is needing to be renewed.

So in effect you are both time coordinated and your child's immigration status is attached to yours

That is the terminology the immigration officials used when they explained to me everything that I would have to do if I wanted to arrange my born in Thailand child to have the proper long term immigration status.

I my case it was recommend that the child be "attached" , so to speak to the mothers current long term immigration status

In your case, more than likely obtaining a Thai passport for your son would be the easier route, in the long run.....but make sure you do not ever present the child's British passport to the Thai immigration authorities or then the Immigrations officials get all bureaucratic silly and treat him like a foreign citizen and most likely will ignore his Thai passport ...as that has happened before.

    Cheers

  8. Any immigration lawyer here in Thailand will ask for the money upfront while there is far more chance that you will get nothing for the money you paid than there is chance at resolving the case for the money you would pay.

Your contacts and people you know here in Thailand have to resolve it from inside Thailand and go to the immigration authorities and resolve the problem and keep on trying as long as it takes.

Might as well walk down a Soi with B1000 notes on a string around your neck.

Well then....A well orchestrated sting operation of sorts would be the way to go and probably the only means and ways of catching the low life scum that are stealing peoples valuables.

Under cover officers in disguise with several volunteer foreigners dressed up with fake duplicate gold chains and seen stumbling around looking drunk and unaware and then the thieves make their move and the sting operators make their move......and then .... Wham ..the scum bag thieves are aggressively taken down and somewhat beat up on the spot,  for good measure, and then taken to Jail for some more punching bag exercises and then...the new order of things says:

"The thieves will be stripped naked and paraded about the town at the end of a rope for 2 days with a sign around their neck confessing their crimes and publically shamed for all to witness.

  10. Thai Friendly is loaded with gold diggers and ex prostitutes and on and off but currently working prostitutes and women looking for sugar daddies and girls who make like they are Hi-So girls but they are not and girls who post photos of themselves from 10 years ago when they where 19 and looked great but now they are 29 and do not look very attractive any longer and 2 kids in tow and plenty of bar girls and lady boys in disguise to be found amongst the percent of girls that are office workers or factory workers and occasionally a Higher-So So  girl and often enough student girls and university girls looking for something different.

Basically you just have to go with the flow while realising that many of them do not really have much to say or offer while most of them can not speak English or hardly at all really while many of them have dated dozens of foreigners and they are great company and fun to be with and if they like you then they will be your lover on the first date or within a week of dating ( as in, they also like sex ).......while the whole Gamut of girls exist with the exception of real, certified and genuine or proven Hi-Society girls or women.

All in good fun of course while you just have to weed out the ones that you do not click with while they will be weeding you out also.

Meantime you can line up an endless parade of Thai women to have dates with through Thai Friendly and or several other Thai based website dating sites.....Wah-Hoo

And that...is all I have to say about that ...lol

So your an a hole if you want the rent paid on time, not 2 weeks late.Your morals are clearly warped.

Yes you would be considered an A-Hole  by consensus if you handle your tenants the way the landlord did handle their tenant such as explained in detail in the OP and assuming it is true.

If you are a landlord and you deal with your tenants in the same manner as explained in the OP ..... then yes YOU would be considered an A-Hole....... by consensus .

As long as the rent gets paid eventually and not excessively late ..as in months and months...... then there is no big deal.......not the end of the world...just a minor inconvenience really.

I have been fortunate that all the landlords that I have ever had to deal with are very reasonable and very flexible while I have always paid my rent ON TIME  and if I could not pay on time then I would not hesitate to deal with the landlord directly and explain the situation and work something out with a reasonable landlord.

But many of them are A-Holes...truth be told ......and you find out when you start to rent or certainly when you vacate the premises and they TRY, as in TRY, to keep your money and refuse to return your damage deposit and or security deposit money until they are forced to return it while all the while they are bitter that they did not get away with keeping your money.

A common example is my wife's relative who is renting a room:

When she moved into the apartment building the women who owns the apartment building lives in the building and does everything herself, so all tenants deal directly with the owner of the building and pay all monies directly to the lady landlord.

The relative was told the only room available was on the top floor, so she took the only room available.

Then it turned out that room was available because it is very noisy, as the water pump for the roof top water tank is less than 10 feet away on the outside of her apartment wall and very noisy when operating.

So, she asked for another room but told none were available ....so she applied for another room and requested another room if and when another room became available.

Eventually about 6 months later one room did become available as the relative could see someone was moving out.

But the landlord gave that room to new tenant ..even though the relative had repeatedly requested another room when and if another room closer to the ground floor became available while the lady Landlord agreed that the relative could move into another room if and when another room became free.....but she gave it to another person.

May seem like a small matter but starts to reveal the A-Hole attitude of the owner.

Then, the air conditioner in the relatives noisy room stopped working, so naturally she informs the Lady landlord and the lady landlord says it will be taken care of  "but" the tenant has to pay for the repairs and if not then the cost of repair will be deducted from the security deposit.

Nice eh??? ...but I surmise you would agree with that sort of landlord  mentality.

To make matters worse, the relative had to give the lady landlord 2000 Baht upfront before she would call the air conditioner mechanics to come and look at the problem and after it was fixed the lady landlord told the relative the final cost to fix it was 2500 baht ...so demanded another 500 baht or will be deducted off the security deposit.

I would venture to say, 100 % sure, the cost of the repair was most likely less than 1000 Baht for the air con mechanic(s) to  come and find out what was wrong and or fix the problem while the sleazy lady landlord made a personal profit on fixing her own property while more or less extorting money from the relative.

I can only imagine what will ensue when the relative decides to move out, while I bet the Lady Landlord will refuse to return the deposit money, equivalent to 2 months rent

Bangkok is full of A-Hole Landlords who operate like that and you do not know until you move in and then more or less "trapped" and subjected to small minded A-Hole landlord mentality......lol

  12. I still get phone calls sometimes from the boiler room scam artist operations as they pass around a persons contact number by way of selling the long list of peoples numbers to other boiler room operations.

As soon as you hear the sales pitch coming from an English speaking Asian sounding voice ( usually Filipino ) you just know it is one of the scam routines.

I just hang up ...but...... a few times I decided to chastise them and shouted at them for being fools and working for a boiler room operation and telling them how they will go down and go to jail or prison but your scum bag bosses will walk free and tell them ...find another form of employment.

Supposedly they pay telephone operators very well so they will stay on even if they know what is really going on while I can only surmise some of them or many of them really do not know what is going on and they are kept somewhat separate from the criminal bosses that orchestrate the scam.

The call operators commonly believe they are working for a legitimate financial entity of some sort while the pay is good for sitting there and contacting people and trying to  hold the potential marks attention long enough to get more info so they can  work the target up to a higher level and convincing the target they should invest their money through their investment vehicles and platforms....which is really just another boiler room scam.

Some of them are quite elaborate and they actually pay you with some profitable returns on your investment, in the beginning,  and have you hooked for the bigger killing soon to come if you keep on investing with them.

IF this guy was involved and knowingly involved and decidedly ignoring all that is entailed for his own greedy profiteering while self absolving himself of any wrong doing while arguing he was just a service provider of some sort to the ongoing and orchestrated boiler room financial scam affair and claims it is not my operation and I am just the IT guy ...and all the usual self serving excuses ...then most people have no sympathy for the man if it turns out to be true as to his involvement in a financial scam of any kind.

Obviously something was run amuck such that he was murdered for the part he played while the chance of the man been murdered by random chance and a victim by random chance is highly unlikely.

Commonly boiler room operations are not small money ( 10, 15 , 20 million dollars ) while the amount of money at stake would incite more people than you would think to perpetrate murder to keep what they adamantly argue is theirs to protect and theirs to keep......regardless of how criminal and nefarious their particular form of money making is.

  13. Well...first of all, the landlords can try to do anything they please ...and then you can fight with them...... as they think they are Lords that can do anything they want.

Meantime...find another place to stay and be happy you do not have to deal with such an insufferable  A-HOLE.

Also...when you do find another place ...seriously.... ask as many of the existing tenants as possible, exactly what the land lords and or apartment / condo management are like and how small minded they are or what kind of BS they pull on the tenants ...because it seems about 50% of the apartment and condos and places to rent are owned by small minded A-Holes and you will wish you never choose that place to stay in the first place.

When you move in you had better take detailed photos of every single little aspect of what is damaged or worn out or not working  AND make sure it is written in blood that you will get your deposit back in full as long as nothing is damaged AND they know how to discern the difference between normal use wear and tear and do not try to claim you owe them anything at all for normal wear and tear and clearly separate from something you damaged.

Who will pay for servicing the air conditioners when needed to be serviced and, if and when air conditioners break down... who will pay????...should NOT be You.

All Appliances that wear out and or break down and no fault of your own...who will pay???...should Not be You

Many items to consider because all too may of the people renting and leasing are low life, shady characters that never had any intention of retuning your security deposit / damage deposit and consider that money to now be their money to use as they please and they will try  and try as much as possible to keep your money....as if they are entitled to it.

I have been very lucky .......no problems ...knock on wood...

Meantime  A-Hole land lords screwing over their tenants is widespread  while all too many people commonly have to fight like hell to get their money back or have the owners of the apartments and condos pay to fix or replace their property...not yours.

    Cheers

  14. Well...let me think here ......they could, if they wanted....build the homes and commit a percentage of them to the Palestinians,  as that would go a long away to showing some appeasement and sincerity.

Oooops sorry...what was I thinking ...how silly of me to suggest such an outlandish idea.

Better to divide and conquer .......works well enough...lol

Joe, that is the nature of social media and the internet. With newspapers and TV stations there is, or there was, supposed to be a checking of facts before publication. The employees had a responsibility to communicate the truth they knew. But the 'democracy' of the internet means every Tom Dick and Harry of every gender persuasion can presume, assume and surmise with the barest of facts available. News' bites are now not the news but mere fodder to stir and provoke debate between the posters and viewers.

Well......that is a good thing in some aspects as you never know whos conjectures and surmising and presumptions and assumptions can maybe help solve the mysteries involved, as all the more thoughts and peoples input can often be helpful.

  16. They should open a GO FUND ME account and see if they can rally up some funds.

It works for a lot of people like the 2 girls from Canada who had a recent motor vehicle accident in Phuket and one died in the accident and the other is severely injured and in the Phuket Hospital .

A Go Fund Me account was started and in 2 days they accumulated 28,000 US dollars for their cause to pay the hospital fees and get the one surviving girl back to Calgary, Alberta and back to her family.

OOPS....SORRY FOLKS .....I SEE THEY ALREADY DID SET UP A GO FUND ME ACCOUNT...MISSED THAT PART

I'm no expert on this subject, but would a professional do that in broad daylight, in front of a camera, and make his escape via a mate on a scooter? The scooter and passenger will be on CCTV's along their journey.

This guy will be caught soon, and the full story will come out.

Yep...Thai style ..they do it  like that all the time...boldly and gangland style  ...in broad daylight,  as it seems there  is no fear of retribution....and probably high on drugs also when they do the hit  or juiced up enough to embolden them to pull the trigger without remorse

    Cheers

  18. That was a HIT....

You see the hit man waiting for the guy to come to his car and then follows him to the car and does his assignment.....so easily.....so quickly...... and leisurely walks off ....No one would have noticed or known if not for the CCTV.

I doubt there will any real effort put into the investigation by the Thai Police.

What can they do other than try to find out who it was or who was involved or ordered the hit and if they do they will probably have to back off at some point when they are told to: "Leave it alone" .."Drop it".

IF ( AS IN IF ) the guy was involved in all that boiler room scam crap, that is so prevalent here in Thailand, then he would not be the first person to go down like that as they are always fighting over the spoils and turning on one another

    Remember Ian Travis?

If not, then just Google it and you will understand how nasty and nefarious those Boiler Room affairs can be.

But it could be something other than that...but that was a HIT..no doubt about it and seemingly easy to arrange here in Thailand

    Cheers
