  1. Lets see now....when driving about on your motorcycle.

Always have to look out for pedestrians suddenly crossing the road where they should not be at any given second and anywhere

Always have to watch out for Thai drivers doing any number of wild and shocking driving maneuvers all around you and way to numerous to list here.

Always have to be looking for police officers trying to pull you over and extort money from you.

Always have to avoid stray dogs as they often chase you down trying to bite you while they may have rabies.

And now, whenever driving around on a motor bike you have to continually and always be expecting /anticipating to be robbed so you have to watch everyone, and their dog, very closely while everyone is suspect of being a robber.

    Lots of great holiday memories...lol

    Cheers

  2. This will never be solved or resolved...that we know for sure while there will be frustration and grief for a long time to come for the family.

    RIP

Meantime this is another warning that people , everyone, has to be on guard all the time if they travel to Koh Tao.

Just better to stay away from the place but if you do go then you must be accompanied at all times and look out for one another ...and be careful of your fellow travelers also.

In cases such as this other foreigners are also suspect as you just never know who you will meet while traveling.

Does anyone remember the Charles Sobhraj serial murder case??

    Cheers

  3. Hmmm...Yes... tell them you have western superstitions also.

If they do not start on the day that you want them to start and finish by the agreed date then you have to abide by the old superstitious values set forth by : The Ghosts and Demons of "Delayed Payment"......  that spirit your money away before you have a chance to pay the workers.

    Cheers

It is definitely very strange. This decree is not just an amendment to existing laws.  It is a replacement.  In Section 3 it cancels the 2008 Working of Aliens Act and 22016 Decree on recruitment of foreign labour.  It was approved by the cabinet in March before the new constitution came into effect but has been passed after the constitution came into effect when new laws have to go through a public hearing process, allowing stakeholders to give their views.  Before the 2008 Working of Aliens Act was passed there were detailed public hearings.  Thai industry bodies and foreign chambers of commerce were rightly and properly invited to air their views.   There are huge implications for Thai employers and for foreign investors and in the interests of the economy and society as a whole one would have thought that they and any other stakeholders, such as Thai labour groups would have been allowed their say this time too, through a normal legislative process.

Normally legislation through Royal decrees is reserved for emergency legislation, particularly relating to financial and tax issues, as well as security issues.  They seem to be representing this as a security issue.

That is correct...but you know how things work here in Thailand.

This will make some money for some people in position to milk the new law for what it is worth

What is the US (my country) and Trump doing 'hosting' this guy????

He is not a 'democratically elected' HEAD OF STATE........... He is a Military Dictator.........

How can the US give him any recognition????

    Another Quote from the OP:

While the schedule for Prayut’s visit to the US is not yet fixed, government officials are preparing the premier’s agenda for his talks with President Donald Trump, ""including a list of military hardware.""

And it sounds like her is looking for some 'Hand-Outs'..... Military Hardware......

If they slag the man then there are ramifications....

  6. Maybe 1 percent of the important people will be apprehend and or prosecuted.

The rest will be the small players in the scheme of things.

Anything done to curb or thwart the practice is positive but they will not even come close to eliminating it.

Meantime the Thais have to measure up to an American standard while maybe those USA officials need to be reminded it was just 4 to 5 months ago they were uncovering some of the largest ever human trafficking operations and pedophile rings based out of the USA involving all kinds of wealthy and important and influential people and government officials while the whole affair is bigger than they could have imagined.

    Remember???

I had to try and convince my self not to bother with another reply to such a lame and baseless comment. However, I was unable to resist the opportunity to tell you what a nonsensical, lame and infertile piece of work you must be to even take 1 second of your time to defend the abhorrent actions of a two bit bloody thug beating up a women under what were blatant & obvious, unjustified circumstances. For you to even type one more word in his defense will be tantamount to your acceptance of his behavour.

I did not miss any point and further more, totally understand the basics of humanity and compassion towards our fellow Human beings!

If you say so...please yourself ....if it makes you feel better about yourself.

You do not have to answer also...but you will...lol

Yes my dear gemguy, they were both wrong, you are absolutely correct. However, one little wrong doesn't deserve a big huge wrong back now does it? Just admit that the guy was way out of line and if you really think otherwise then I don't have anything more to discuss with you. Leave it!

Tell that to them........not to me....while it is not the first time altercations like this have happened.

Amazing just simply amazing! There are no ifs or buts or who was wrong. It's all quite clear that this moron savagly attacked a defencless opponent and meant to do her some serious GBH. Where is the confusion here?

They were both wrong...that is the whole point.....but you missed it.

Matters will grow worse if they make it worse....best they both apologise to one another and let the whole affair simmer down.

And I do not condone what either one of them did ...it is a lesson for the both of them.

Do not be grabbing another persons ass and do not be slapping people in the face.

  10. He can always lie and deny,  like most of the Thai people do or would.... and insist that he did nothing wrong and claim it was her that started the altercation by hitting him...which you clearly see in the video and can not be denied.

He can deny that he grab her ass or spanked her ass or what ever is alleged by others as it is not 100 percent clear or certain what he did such that she deliberately and maliciously and intentionally hit him.......slapped him...outright assaulted him.....while he can press hard on that fact and never give in and twist it round ...just like the Thais so commonly do.

Just saying.... if push comes to shove.

He could sue her if he wanted and make an issue out of the whole silly affair and she can sue him if she wanted and also make a big issue out of it and then the both of them will lie and deny and BS to no end and over embellish the facts and twist the facts and the expand on the lies.

He said .......She said...back and forth ....

She could claim rape and he could claim she tried to steal  his wallet or something from the bar and the accusation will fly, back and forth and everyone will take sides and also be angry while animosities will develop to the point that revenge will be taken in some nasty manner........Just use your imagination.

Or the police could make them apologise to one another and shake hands and let bygones be bygones and tell them do not let it happen again or there will be trouble for the both of you while the police will not take sides in such matters...so mind yourself and control your conduct.

End of story ...Go.... and we do not want to be seeing either of you around here again...

This guy is a known 'Cheap Charlie'....... He always tries to feel-up the girls and never buys drinks.......

Typical treatment when you wear out your welcome.... Always trying to ride the bus for free....

How do you know that and from what source did you glean this information.

Not that I doubt it but  just wondering how you can validate that info

You really need to watch the video again. Closely. And then check out the posts about what happened before the part that is shown in the video.

    Cliff notes version.

The woman is apparently the wife of a man that was in the bar.

She went there to meet her husband. While inside the bar, the bar owner allegedly groped her breasts. She went outside (presumably to wait for her husband).

The bar owner exits the bar and appears to grope her butt as he walks by. She turns around and slaps him.

But hey, why not just assume that she just turned around and slapped him for no reason what so ever. Yeah, because that happens all the time, right ?

    You may be right...

So in the end 2 people learned a lesson.

    # The Man learned he should not slap or grope just any ones butt regardless of the circumstances as there could be consequences.

    # The Woman learned that she can not hit someone in the face like that and expect nothing to come of it ...even if she feels she is in the right as she is the one that got hurt and most likely will get hurt again if and when she slaps a man in the face.

She has learned that she should reprimand the person verbally but not resort to physical aggressiveness to resolve the issue....as she learned the hard way what can often enough happen.

    Cheers

    right,
indeed he maybe already forgot that he grabbed her boops, got escorted out of the bar, and then decided to grope her again.
I say good for the Lady, and indeed she should press charges.

That is just speculation while anyone could counter that and allege that she was bought several drinks by the man while inside and he was playing around with her already and then she wanted more money or wanted more drinks to be bought by him and he politely refused and she was angry already before they went outside.

Then, when going outside he gave her an affectionate tap on the butt and all done in good fun with no menace or harm meant...but she was already angry with him over nothing important and slaps him in the face ..with menace and intent and meant to harm.

How is that for speculation and assumptions...lol

  14. Right...... and just ignore the part on the video ( for the record ) that clearly shows the woman slapping the man and then trying to slap him again while he finally decides it is time to slap back and defend himself.

It is pretty obvious if he had not defended himself she was going to continue to abuse him and assault him.

I surmise you just have to keep on re-playing that specific part of the altercation over and over again and probably about 100 times or more before the female provoker and instigator of the altercation begins to understand ( or get it through her thick skull ) you can not deliberately hit people or kick them or slap them with intent and expect ( nothing ) to come of your own aggressive actions and conduct.

Yes I see the part where the man puts his hand on her bum as he comes out of the door but that is not a deliberate and intentional hit to the face and done with malice and meant to hurt someone.

I hope she is sued for assault to teach her a lesson.

I would defend her if it was clear that the man slapped her in the face first and deliberately done with malice and intent and meant to hurt her and seen on video and for the record but in this case it is too obvious who started the altercation and who assaulted who first.

She got what she deserved in this case.

Also....yes...here in Thailand you should walk away from such minor incidents as that is the smart thing to do because you clearly see how fast the other bar girls gang up on the guy and that is the reality of the environment here when it comes to a fight with Thai people where suddenly it is 5 on 1 or 10 on 1 or more...so yes you have to keep your wits about you and walk away.

But this guy did not and we see the women got what she deserved...she got back what she was dishing out.

In other words what I said is entirely correct and you can't fault it so you choose to argue things that you think I mean but didn't actually say.

I'm just stating the legalities here and why the MB driver likely won't face any penalty. I'm not trying to imply anything like what you're arguing against. I for one think he was road raging, I just don't see much luck in a legal claim against him unless he admits to having malicious intent.

    Whatever you think my friend.

Meantime, I still choose not to listen to your bad advice and your way of thinking about how to drive in Thailand...lol

This is all such total BS when they write things like this. EVERYBODY knows that every single "gentleman's" club in Pattaya has sex for sale...that's their business model, full stop. And the police know it better than anybody because the owners ALL pay for special made-up permits from the cops to smoke inside, play illegal music, and whatever else they dream up as a kind of surrogate for the real permit...which is for the cops to ignore the prostitution. And the big wigs come in for freebees at most of the major go-gos. So either this bar didn't pay its dues, it pissed somebody off, or one of Prayut's morality nazis is trying to score a few points with the boss, so they raided the club that earns them the least in bribes. If they want to shut down prostitution in Pattaya, just basically go to every single bar in the city and close it down. Hell, I even got propositioned once at Pattaya Hospital on Soi 4 by a girl taking my blood pressure. I just wish the cops would stop pretending like they aren't fully aware of and involved in this stuff.

Yes.....of course you are correct...but they have to be seen clamping down and policing the business to satisfy who ever it is they are trying to appease.

Many people in Thailand are still offended or concerned??...about prostitution and ALL that is entailed while government officials are put under pressure to do something about it.....so they make like they are doing something about it ....and just going through the minimum motions and then back to business as usual.

The police, publically demonstrating they are on top of this has been Going on for about 30 years now.

    Cheers
