  1. "He reiterated that the Democrat Party is ready to talk with all political parties to end the country's conflict."

    (MCOT online news)

On what authority can the Democrat Party be the arbitrator for all Political Parties in respect the upcoming election.?

I am astonished that all of the Thai institutions of Democracy and Law tolerate the dictate of unconstitutional institutions cobbled together and led by criminals.

Why have all of Thailand's constitutional institutions become so benign?

It seems like the entire nation is so transfixed by each others spoils from corruption that they have gone completely mad because every other institution is feeding off their personal trough.

The tragedy for the Thai people is that whichever movement wins the day the level of corruption will increase.

If the People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) win the day the expected out come is that access to the trough will return to being the exclusive reserve of the of the elite and their Democrat Party and what little honor is left in Thailand will be lost for generations.

  2. "The military has now realised that a military coup would be a quick outcome, but it could backfire hugely with many problems."

Yes the last time they helped there comrades out the yellows and masacured the reds it only made the Reds stronger. Just as the current coup attempt with the Mad dictator Suthep is making them stronger. When will the rich elites learn that the only way to win is to win the hearts and the minds of the majority instead of trying to rule them under a iron thumb. I would love to see this happen in a democratic way, but highly dobtfull in my lifetime!

Once again your reveal your breathtaking ignorance of the truth miss red shirt ! clap2.gif

I'd say that she has two very profound realities within her text.

  4. This problem has been created by Thaskin Shinawatra and no-body else , until this person of interest is out of the picture, Thailand will still battle with the numbers, while the PTP and its members exist the problem will remain, all because of Thaskin Shinawatra , its a pox on Thailand that's going to take decades to remove. bah.gif

You are so wrong. It is the military coups de terre that removed Thaksin that has caused all of the current problems.. If Thaksin had been impeached the Thai Rak Thai party would still be the government of Thailand and Thaksin would be history.

The problem is entire driven by elite families that seem to think they can condemn working Thai people to a miniskule share of the nation's wealth while they continue to take most of it and plunder the rest.

The Democrats think they are clever in creating so much animosity, yet in fact they are driving themselves into obscurity.

It is they the Dems, that have to reform.

  5. It is a tragedy.
Thailand does not seem to be able to organize unity and justice.
The division of the country appears deeper than ever before.
To find compromises, searching for a better fairer solution, appears alien.

The political system has many faults.
And, unfortunately, the so-called "elected" representatives of the people, take advantage shamelessly only for themselfs.

The necessary changes, reforms and the honorable work of politicians will this country never experience,

as long convicted criminals, corrupt people and only of themselves thinking people sit in Parliament and key positions.

Every Thai I've talked to, all like to be rid of these greedy cancer.

But they do not know how to do it.

As the greatest hope remains the Constitution Court
Hopefully the court judges with a variety of parliamentary requirements to be met in the future, no matter who is in power.
Like for all future budgeting processes they make it compulsory for all future governments, that
    - the use of money for project proposals are accurately represented in detail and coherent on the last baht.
    - the use of money for project proposals is described in detail for all people publicly documented and visible
    - Public monthly or quarterly reports on Finance and project progresses.
    - Public invitation for project proposals and at least three competitive compare offers.
    - Project completion reports including all expenses with receipts.
    - a strong supervisory committee composed of members is formed by all parties,
to control the entire investment process without disabilities and time delay restrictions.
The results of the process and progress checks are presented to the parliament.
The members of the supervisory body should rotate so that corruption is impossible or more difficult.
When public funds are used, then the public has the right to see what the representatives of the people plan to do with the money and how it was used.
It must be prevented that a country can be completely plundered by a few unethical people just because they are currently in power.

Some good constructive ideas here. However much of what is proposed here is in place already. The lack of an effective opposition is a major problem that can't be fixed. That is until there is a party in opposition that refrains from from trying to moderate government by going for the Prime Minister's juggler on day one.

Further there is the cultural Thai issues wherein every last citizen wants to be an insider so that they can exploit the system corruptly. PM Thaksin didn't invent corruption in Thai politics it has been the order of the day ever since the Monarchy signed the original constitution.

The only way to find out if the Yingluck government can get Thailand out of the mire that it has been in since the last coups de terre is for PTP run to term.

If the Democrat party had set their stance to being professional in opposition whilst building a stronger political party they could win next election. Should the end result of four years of PTP be disappointing the Democrats might win easily.

"It must be prevented that a country can be completely plundered by a few unethical people just because they are currently in power"

Here the problem is the Thai judiciary which is too easily pushed into a pro elite frame of mind. Not surprising because the are elite themselves and who some say 'feed at the trough' themselves too. To keep blaming the constitution is pointless. Better perhaps to revert to the 1997 constitution which was so effective that Thaksin's enemies had to conspire to enable a military coups to get rid of him. Why not impeach him? They were not prepared to wait! Hugh.

In spite of all the ranting of Suthep and the Abhisit's Democrats both Thaksin and Yingluck were the lawful Prime minister's of Thailand, yet they were illegally driven out without the support of their electorate or Thai Law. Scandalous!

  6. I am incredibly saddened to see the ravages of age and abuse tear a great man down in public. His financiers should lead him away quietly so that he might rehabilitate his brain cells with neurons.

Once rehabbed he can help Khun Abhisit's mummy rehab her baby as well so that they may face the onerous task of the rehab of the Democrat party.

Satire aside I love my life in Thailand because it is a fabulous place to be. I just want the Democrat Party developed into 21st century giant of a party so that the two party system can govern with passion and make Thailand proud.

  7. What an utter waste of lives including his own. Thailand has almost no safety net for people like this derange d perpetrator.

The United States of America has the same problem and the same attitude. Every year in the USA thousands of people from children, young adults and elderly people disappear never to be found again. It is the same in Europe and no doubt in other countries too.

The damaged people that commit these terrible offenses need to be identified in the community when the are young in order for society to try and instill respect in themselves and the to encourage them to respect other people and the Law. If they cannot be reformed they must be detained for the rest of their lives so that we and our children may thrive in safety.

  8. I have experienced overcharging in Thailand but not since I have a Thai wife.

However some of the guy's living temporarily do suffer because their Thai girl encourages vendors to charge their farang more. Maybe such 'wife' split the farang part of the price with the vendor.

  9. Is she going to rent it locally in Thailand - i.e. advertise in Thailand, get tenants who are already in Thailand?

Or is she going to advertise it in on Canadian/US/international websites for holiday lets? If so, let the renters pay her in Canada with hard currency.

Tha income tax on rental property is quite fair @ 15%. the Thai taxman also accepts that the hard and soft furnishing of a condo or house is 40% of the rent, therefore not taxed but considered "compensation for value depreciation" if specified in the rental contract. most real estate agents are not aware of this.

Hi I am confused by this wording,

"compensation for value of depreciation therefore not taxed but considered compensation for value depreciation"

In the UK we generally do not get a deductible for depreciation on the fabric of the building or it's furnishings.

would you clarify your statement please.

  10. "Mr Prompong said the financiers should stop their support now that a general election has been officially announced."

Completely in line with what our dear (caretaking) PM had said when the first voices were heard regarding the modified amnesty bill "please be patient, there a whole process still to be followed, go home". The 'blanket amnesty bill' would have sailed through if no one had protested. Makes you wonder what other tricks Pheu Thai wants to come up with ermm.gif

Why are you angry. Talented politicians do find openings to push legislation forward. If they figure out how to do so yet do not try they are lousy politicians. Therefore I find the PTP effective.

The problem that has to be solved by the democrats is how to be a good and effective opposition. The methods they have chosen to in the past are mostly childish in that they rely on disinformation, constructing flawed arguments in the house and in aiding and abetting anarchists and trouble makers.

When the Democrats are back in government they will have to include policies that distribute the nation's wealth fairly in order to enable a wider spread of the electorate to feel included. For example This would be infinitely preferable to offering the working Thai a Baht 2,000 bonus for easing and then being unable to find the cash. Compare that to Yingluck's 'Tax Back' plans and you can see the the elite get a benefit that relates to their contribution to the GOP and the proletariat get a befit proportional to their contribution to GOP. The manufacturers were delighted and everyone was happy and the economy didn't collapse. The icing on the cake was that the government didn't have to spend a single baht on the project upfront.

Effective opposition always brings your party back to power eventually. So far the Democrats have done nothing in the last decade that will get them elected.

  11. "To solve the country's problems, Thailand needs proper education on democracy"; Chitpas said.

Khun Chitpass has effectively abandoned democracy by her recent actions. She fails to understand why the Democrats can no longer win an election.

To be an electable political party the members must learn how to be professional politicians whether being in government or in opposition. During my twenty year's in Thailand the Democrat party have failed achieve either.

Her (Chitpass) support of the Suthep farce is a further black mark on her career. The Democrat support for an attempt to modify Thailand's democratic system, under threat of continuous anarchy, discredits her and the Democrat Party.

  12. Right. I cannot appear in court to face anarchy charges because I am busy in the streets stirring up anarchy.

Anarchy. 55555555. . You're funny. Why yes, Thailand is just falling into total disorder. Utter chaos, death and destruction everywhere you look. Honestly, the drama queens among the shin-rouge... But yes, the thaksin amnesty bill WAS a monumentally bad idea. So call me when S follows your dear leader's example and hauls a$$ to Dubai or somewhere...

Stop biting your nails, put away the anti-depressants for a moment, and tell me something. Are you all just envious of Suthep's success in leading these protests, or is it the almost non-existent possibility of him ever being PM that's keeping you up nights? Whichever. Turn your back on Thaksin once & for all, and six months from now no one will remember Suthep's name.

Thailand needs Suthep like Syria needs Al Qaeda. Suthep and his backers have no time for a government that is loyal to Thailand and it's people. Suthep's people are said to want him to provide open access to the feeding trough.

That any reader of TV can put their faith in a man that claims to be running a personal anti corruption commission when allegedy he is Thailand's legendary figure in the business of facilitating corruption for elite sponsors, is very disturbing for one that dreams of peace and prosperity for the Thai people.

  13. I'm sure he will show up, no shopping trips or visits to distant cities planned.

Perhaps he will be a lot meeker after he sees the execution of dear Chalerm?

I been wondering who is at the centre of malfeasant disinformation in Thailand. Your name is climbing the list fast.

No you can't be number one Suthep is already there.clap2.gifcoffee1.gif
