Lots of suggestion there, would like to do the big service myself, but don't want the hassle of buying loads of tools, so just need to find a competent bike repairer.
You don't need that many specialized tools to work on a Honda Wave. It ain't rocket science.

There is also a 400 cc scrambler version now, 116,000 baht.

CB 1100 is available, retro styling, great looking.
That is like ordering a steak in a restaurant and they bring you fish.
Comparing apples and oranges here, two completely different bikes.

CT400 is 115,000 baht.
Those 200s you talk about don't exist, they are 150 cc.
And now just released at the motorshow is a 250 cc model.

Adding a windshield to the MT09 is a one minute job.
Lots of them on the internet.
I don't use luggage bags so can't help you there.
I also thought the engine in the two bikes is the same. Probably a bit less power for the FJ-09 because of the weight difference, but I think it is really not worth mentioning. Google is your friend

This model is manufactured in India.
Without specifically referring to this model or BMW's, how are motorbikes manufactured in India taxed when imported into Thailand? Is there an FTA or some ASEAN-Indian agreement? Are there any other bikes manufactured in India which are sold here? Off the top of my head, I cannot think of any mass market models. All the Japanese manufacturers have plants here whilst some of their top of the range larger models are made in Japan.
All the small KTM's are made in India.

@bramds Have you ridden one? I'm a 200lb+ 6" tall farang, worried a Stallion will silly small for me.
The 400 version is bigger than the 150, also has larger rims.
Just find a dealer and sit on it :-)
-
Then just get the Stallion Centaur 400. 115,000 baht.

They won't move on the price, but they'll throw in some freebies, for a scooter, it's mostly helmet and jacket, for a big bike it can go to free registration and insurance for the first year.
Unless you go to Honda Big Wing, I got f#ck all when I bought my bike there.
-
nope, only the 500 CC models.

The little Honda "300" might be closer to a 275 , but the Honda CB "500" is even worse , as it is closer to a 450. The KTM "390" ( 373 ) has similar power than the CB "500 / 450 but weighs about 110 LBS less. That old Honda must be the weight of an old barge . Its said to handle like one too. Point of intrest , the KTM EXC range of 500,s isnt 500cc either , they are over 510cc.
Did you ride one? I did, for 3 years, and it is super flexible and not too heavy at all. Perfect for city riding and long trips.
But you probably only have experience with real motoGP bikes and the rest is not good enough for you.
Must be fun riding those tracks all day every day, living the life.

And the MT-03 is built in Indonesia, not Japan.

Yes my bad, but I don't think we will see Japanese imported bikes anytime soon, at least for a cheap price.
This doesn't make sense. I got a Japanese imported bike and 399,000 is not too expensive. Compared to Europe it is only a little bit more expensive.

Think I will go for the full Termignoni system.

Did you have to cut the original pipe or was it plug and play?
-
They should come with an Africa single

My friends with the CB 500's say they pay 4,000-6,000 baht to change tires.

Which tires are those? Sounds a bit cheap.

I've been waiting for the crf300 m as my next bike. Maybe soon?
https://www.chiangmai-motorcycle-rental.com/bike-for-rent/honda-crf300l-off-road-guided-tour-bike/
isn't it already out there?
nope, it's a modified 250.

I find it hard to believe that Honda Thailand only expect to sell 10-15 AT's per year?
I personally know two expats friends that want one badly and a few on another local bike forum. I think they can sell app 50-75 per year easily, if the price is right off-course.
Yes agree on the ECU, on my V mk3 I read in the service manual that they can (in case of a bad accident), go in and read via the ECU what rpm and what gear was engaged when the bike crashed.
10-15 units, period.
I want so many bikes badly, doesn't mean I buy them all, met enough people who want and going to buy this this and that, never happens.

Remember the Thai made CBR500 problems with the oil leaking out within a matter of days.
I know one guy that had the Big Wing management saying it was normal and denying anything was wrong, until Honda documented it as a major problem and did a recall.
Did it? I did 38,000 kms on mine and didn't lose a drop of oil.

Well, it originated in Sydney and it has been fun every year.
It is also a charity run for prostate cancer research, so don't go hating.

Yes, by himself. So you are saying a foreigner can't even mow his own lawn here.
