  1. Amazing! Did you notice how many people just eased around him and then drove on, as if nothing in the world was wrong?

..they just stood over him for more than a minute..not one person bended down to get their pants dirty to see if he had a pulse or choking from his chin strap...geez!..perhaps they thought he was deceased...then another 40 seconds before he makes signs of stirring..then he had to drag his legs back perhaps up into a seated position beside the pickup so as he wouldn't have his legs severed..all unaided..geez! sad.png

Maybe he was talking, normally that's enough to know if someone is injured or death.

And don't move someone who was in an accident unless some medics are present.

  2. But after finished riding under the Chonburi expressway, do you continue on the Sukhumvit all the way to Pattaya?

You can do but the quickest route is to get on the Chonburi bypass and join highway 7(bikes can use it from here) and stay on it all the way into Pattaya.

    Not anymore.

Looks like they want to divert all the bikes towards Sukhumvit, the scenic route if you want.

  3. This month I got stopped on a motorcycle near a police box (Chiang Mai - Wat Santitam) and asked to produce my licence. I showed a valid British licence for m/c and car. I have been here less than 3 months so still valid (??? isn't it ???). No good says he; showed me a copy of an international driving licence and indicated that this was the only valid document (apart from a Thai licence of course ) he would accept. Sent across the road to pay. I don't speak Thai but I attempted to explain to that guy that I had a valid UK licence but got the same reaction. He would only accept an I.D. Paid B200 fine WITH receipt ! Now have Thai m/c and car licence.

Nothing wrong there, you're UK license or any other non-Thai license is not valid here.

The only ones accepted are Thai license and international driver's license.

Doesn't matter if you are here for 1 day or 100 years.

  4. Be polite and insist going to the police station if he tells you that you did something wrong. Always make sure that you at least carry copies of anything related to identification, stay and licenses. Just make it a habit of having them under your seat or so.

I always carry my Thai driver's license. It is an official identification document and it has my passport number on it, so they can check my status in their computer (immigration's computer that is).

  5. No tax AND no insurance?

Are you referring to me or the OP?

If me then the answer is yes. I go there when i have time, so sometimes that can take a month or two. The basic insurance here is worth nothing. I think the maximum payout is 15,000B. I can cover that and more if I need to.

That's where you are wrong, they actually do pay out, and yes, also to farangs.

I had the joy of using it once already :-)

Hmm did you read what I said?

The maximum payout is 15,000B for injury to another. It doesn't cover any damage to other vehicles. I can live without that for a month or so until it is a convenient time for me to go to the DLT.

But it is 50,000 baht for injury to your own person, that comes in handy too, or you don't mind forking that out too?

Might come in handy if the other party doesn't have any insurance.

  7. I thought it was good value and looking there are always a few for sale. I found another nice standard one in good condition but unrestored. Same price and the guy shipped it to cm for me. That one runs great! Starts first pop but isnt as good cosmetically. I want to restore that one and ride the other. Only hassle is it has 20 years tax owing! Think it will be 2000b to pay. The woman helping me misunderstood about that....

I got one too, 16 years late with taxes.

Tried everything, but to no avail, can't get it registered anymore, as it is over the 5 year limit, even tried bribing :-)

It looks nice in my driveway though, I take it out sometimes, but I know it is an illegal alien on the roads.

  8. Under seat:

    registration sticker

Not the first dispute about this.

The registration sticker has to be attached visibly at the outside of the vehicle.

There are different methods (gadgets) to do that waterproof.

Hiding under the seat gives a welcome reason to be stopped at checkpoints.

No, it does not have to be visible, you just have to be able to show it, so under the seat is fine.

Same for your car, by the way.
