  1. Does anyone know of any golf courses near Koh Chang ?
it it compulsory to have to hire a buggy (motorised cart), or can you walk around the courses?

some of the Pattaya courses seen very expensive !

there was a nice golf course near phichai uttaradit when I visited 9 years ago thought it was called something like water world , does anyone know of their website ?

    man thanks

  2. So we have to jump through hoops to get our money back when the info is publicly available that my country Australia has imposed a total flight ban!
just like hotels refusing to give refunds ! Just another nail in the coffin for this country, no idea how to treat tourist and then they wonder why a lot of tourists won't return . While we're at it to get into Thailand I need a certificate to say I am Coronavirus free - no older than 72 hrs yet it takes 72 hrs from time of test to get a result !

  3. I was looking at the application for a retirement visa on the Australian Embassy (Canberra ) website , there is an additional form to complete with further information that must be answered.

    1. Proposed address in Thailand : how do I fill this in when I don’t know where I am going to be living exactly, ie stay in a hotel until I find a place to stay ?

    2. Reference person in Thailand (their details including phone number) again what if I do t know anyone I Thailand yet ?

  4. Hi all , I  am Australian and 50years old. I am aware of the retirement visa but was wondering is there a visa option that would allow me either to stay for 3 months at a time (single entry each time) or a 3 month visa which has multiple entry in. 12 month period similar to the visa based on marriage.

Reason is I don’t want to fully retire yet but would like to work 3 months then 3 months off in thailand?

Someone said the unwritten rule for visa exemptions on arrival is 6 per calendar year which maybe another option.

    thank you for your assistance

  5. Hi I have in the past come to Thailand on the 30 day visa exemptions for holiday purposes ( I am Australian) approx 3-4 times per year and normally stay 14-21 days at a time.

With all these changes over the past few years am I likely to be refused entry on my third or fourth visa exemption per year ?

No history or overstay , return ticket always booked , sufficient money for stay and always pre booked hotel

    thanks for the advice

    1. Hi I was reading the Australian tax Treaty between Australia and Indonesia. Article 18 states that pensions are only taxed in the contracting state ( in this case my superannuation pension which is my own privately funded retirement pension Not the Australian Govt Aged pension), ie only taxed back in Australia, just want to know people’s experience ? So if only receiving pension to my Indonesian bank account I don’t need to submit a Indonesian tax return and declare that income allowance coming into the Indo account.
    2. people on forums also say the tax official don’t care about a foreigner income sourced from their home country, but the law says if you are a resident you must declare? Given tax treaty wouldn’t pay any tax, but given Australian superannuation pension is tax free from age of 60 years ie the Aussie govt doesn’t tax you maybe Indonesia might ?
  6. Many thanks for the answers, What is a chop from the Embasy, registration at the MFA ?

Q1:So you are saying that even though i married by wife in Australia with Australian certificate , i still need to have it registered and recorded for the purposes of a extension of stay based on marriage/

Q2: Is this the same for a non imm O-A retirement visa ? or i can just show my australian marriage certificate without it being registered.

Q3: We did have a thai wedding in her village, but did not register it as legally married in Australia in 2006, Thai wedding this was back in 2007 ?

many thanks for your help and assistance.

    regards

  7. Hi, sorry if i sound ignorant.

But, i thought you could only have a non imm O visa (90 days stay, if multiple entry can come and go as you please for 12 months staying 90 days at a time), what is the extension of stay for 12 months based on marriage i.e i thought you could only get this if you are 50 years of older?

Q 1: I had my non imm O visa issued in Australia, so you are saying that with the additional info while i am in thailand i could apply for a 1 year extension of stay based on marriage which will allow me to stay for 12 months , rather that leaving the country every 90 days, is this correct?

Q2: I only have a marriage certificate from Australia, so i am assuming this will suffice and i would need it translated ?

    Q3. What is a KOR2, KOR 3 ?

Q4: If we are living in a rented house, do we need show the rental agreement? is this part of a KOR 2 what ever that is

Q5: if have Australian marriage certifcate as we got married in Australia not Thailand do i need anything else , apart from the Police order stating all the requirements, to get a letter from the embassy to state proof of income i am assuming you have to show you embassy proof such as bank statements etc, does this letter from embassy need to be translated?

    many thanks

  8. UPDATE:

Hello all many thanks to you all for your comments and advice and trust me i have taken them on board.

I have questioned her about not anwering my SMS;s straight away and she told me that sometimes she keeps the credit low on her phone because her girlfriends ask to use her phone and her credit up, also i suppose it is reasonable to assume that when you send an SMS it does not always get delivered or sent immediately from either country ?

Probably in her defence there has been songkran where she went to the village and past week or so is in the process of moving her shop from city to city so she is busy there as well.

About the facebook removal of my photos (which came as a shock to her insisting they were on facebook) she states that her girlfriend who can only speak thai ( works at a cloths store i have met her) was using her facebook account and accidently deleted them and two of her photos that were all contained in the one Album of her photos section on facebook. When i confronted her on this the girl arrived a short time later and i saw (Skype) my wife talk thai and they both laughed indicating to me maybe she did delete the photos and did not tell my wife. Girl friend does not know her password. I told her to stop giving other people access to computer.

She says: why if you thinnk i have Gik or sammy noi (BF or other husband) i dont change my password to facebook and my email account ( which she has told me the passwords), which is true (although could have alternative accounts)

I have checked ThaiLoveLinks.com etc and cant see her on website.

Still has not asked for any money, has access to credit card and could clean out if she want ( i have reduced the limit ), knows i am not rich and would stand to get a maximum of $40,000 australian dollars if we split

Next visit i am going to go over about 4 days earlier and observe !

  9. Hello all, I am arriving in thailand on 2 October 2011,have a non imm O multiple entry visa based on being married to a thai that is due to expire on 16 October?

    1. When i arrive in Thailand as i will be staying there for 90 days, i am assuming that even though there is only 2 weeks left on the visa , i will still be granted entry to stay for 90 days , is this correct ?

    2. If i arrive on 2 October at 4pm is that counted as DAY 1 ?

    3. Is it possible to renew a non Imm O visa based on married to a thai while in thailand or do i need to return to my country to get a new one (just in case i cahnge my plans and want to stay for say 120 days )

Many thanks for your help and advice.

    regards,

  10. Thanks everyone, yeah well its been about 4 hrs since i sent an sms to her pre paid andpost paid phones, her excuse will be either no credit or i was busy organising the move from the one to city to the other to start the new business one floor above the lady boy uncles shop ! but if you got time to be on facebook and i then send the sms message, i am sure you phone isnt to far fromyour hands.

does anyone know what the term party5555 means on facebook or in thailand ?

thanks everyone you are right , i guess next trip i can always get off the plane at phuket !

many thanks for the straight up opinions

  11. Thanks everyone for your advise much appreciated. Interestingly lately i send SMS messages to her pre paid phone and her post paid phone (true vision) , and she does not respond for over 24hrs citing that she had no credit , yet where she is the shop is 30 mts away from a booth that sells recharge cards 1 to call and her post paid she is on a plan ?

that is another change in habit !

dont think she hired a investigator for Phuket as i monitor bank accounts like a hawk and i would know if big sums of money had been touched

To correct my first post ,she did NOT approve of me going to phuket with my cop mate and we had a few words, but i explained that Aussie men sometimes go to pubs or on trips togetther and not take their wives, since i had not seen my friend for a while and he did bring his thai wife and children with him.

    thanks again.

yeah thought 400,000 baht for half a rai (2 squares she calls it)

  12. Hello all does anyone know of any reputable/honest and good private investigator companies in thailand. I am suspecting my wife maybe cheating on me in Thailand and i want to confirm.

    Story in brief:

I am 40 years old Australian , she is 25 year old thai lady ( who as of start of year now has Australian citizenship and passport).

She came to Australia in 2005, worked with me in remote locations of Australia earning money until Sept 2010 when she returned to Thailand to open up a beauty business.

Her uncle is a lady boy who is very well know in the Katoey community and runs several shops in a city outside Bangkok

so she goes back to thailand opens business, that i have seen and it is only meeting running costs.

I pay for her unit 4000 baht per month and give her allowance, i also in Sept 2010 gave her approx $25,000 AUD to set up business and some money (only fair as she worked while in Australia although i earn about 3 times more than her per week).

Anyhow june 2010 went with a friend to phuket for 12 days (without her) she did approve

Saw her last in February 2011 for citizenship /passport obtaining and went to bali no problems.

Been talking on skype every 2nd night, now only once a week.

her facebook account up to 1 month ago had photos of me in her profile and in the photo album - now gone ( this seems very symbolic to me)

now moving down to city where ladyboy uncle (very business savy uncle , wife's mother's brother but he is lady boy) to take over one of his business.

Have told her not giving another cent she need to make this work or she can either come back to australia or i can send her for further education

Her English is very good, good looking girl

My concern is that she is not communicating with me as much , but more importantly removing my photos off her facebook which indicates does not want any her contacts to see she is married to a Aussie (maybe i am wrong).

I have never doubted her before, but i am wondering if by going to phuket with my cop mate in June 2010 that broke the back of the relationship as far as she is concerned.

Trying to have baby for 2 years, cant conceive, she has minor med prob

    Paid 400,000 baht for 2 square of village land ( i think half a rai 800sqm ?)

When she set up this business that she is now closing, she said she had to pay 100,000 baht to owner to buy out shop so she could lease, but when i went there two months after opening 30% shops not rent, states when she moves to run (that the uncles has given her shop for nothing and she will use her own products) shop in same shopping centre as ladyboy uncle it normally makes 100,000 baht per month turn over, but is down to 60,000 due to employee they recruited not working properly.

I as an ex cop have a feeling i could be getting played here or she may have a sammy noi/gik ( boyfriend) that i dont know about

She lived in Australia for 5 years never any indication or problems.

So i want to hire a honest reputable private investigator to follow up to see if she is doing the right thing ( i hope) or if my gut feeling is justified. Does anyone know roughly what it costs (ball park figures)? including photo evidence?

    This is an allegation only

    Many thanks

  13. So enter and leave Thai on thai passport

enter and leave Australia on Australian passport.

If booking airfare in Thailand ( online) to travel TO Australia, should still probably use Aussie passport as when you get to Bangkok Airport to fly to Australia, check in staff may want to see you have a valid visa to Australia ( or Australian passport), is this correct?

Because if book airline ticket and nominate Thai passport, then check in staff are going to want to see a visa, in which case she pulls out her Aussie Passport, mind you i dont think thai airways etc would care as long as you can show you can enter the country you are gettting off the plane in?
