Thanks Mr Z,as mines old, only 3+ insurance available for the Lifan. 1690B,but Ok cover if you hit and kill someone(300,000 each). Also 200,000 for any court costs, but only 10,000B to repair the bike.

I couldn't find anything but separate insurance for my Keeway 200 superlight & my Lifan 200 dirt bike which as far as I'm concerned is a con, If you manage to find a single insurance for both, please post the details here as I would be very interested...
I'll be interested as well, just brought a Lifan Cross, but hope to get something bigger and better?[emoji51].
How much was the Lifans insurance please,I've not got a quote yet,but would like an idea if the cost.
Cheers

I paid 20,000,it's 4 years old with 12,000K on it.
Been considering that too, perhaps a mod to the bike?Just brought a 4 year old Cross, anyone tried two up for a longish trip? and may need more power. My other half won't even sit on it yet(too low so?[emoji51]),but I'll keep trying.
I have been told it is not that great comfort wise, but we are nearly always two up on the 110 Wave and never had an issue with power. Can do 80kph and that is enough for me.... hills? well it is going to be slow, we did some mountain roads in VN on a 100 Wave and I don't recall needing 1st gear, maybe once....lots of 3rd though.
If you want to do 100+ kph it is the wrong bike for you and 'er indoors.
Let us all know though...how much did you pay?..is it a good'un?
Just had a service, new pads, front and rear, new intermediate tyres, new plastics, just taxed and has a green book. Came with a spare rear road tyre,I brought via TV Classifieds from a nice chap.
All it really needs is the fork gaiters replaced, sounds good,I agree with Papa about the looks etc.
I'm 6'1'' and over 18stone,so it's like two up for a lot of people!.
I've only done 40 kilometres on it,being a Cross could maybe do with another gear or different sprockets, but it's not a roadster.
Cheers

Good tip about the front caliper Papa, has anyone managed to change the gears to 1 down,4 up?. Seems crazy it's different here to the rest of the world!(cost saving?). Cheers

I brought a Truck on a tourist visa, got a residential certificate from the local Amphure office,it cost 50Baht and Toyota did the rest. Just got a secondhand bike and will see tomorrow if I can get that in my name as well.

In Kanchanaburi on Friday,I was quoted 77,000 for the one they had in stock. I was actually looking at the MT-03,nice,even the other half liked it in black.

Terminal 5 is BA's hub, they used to fly to BKK from T3(unless they've moved back.
Also I've heard EVA are reconfiguring their B777's,losing the two seats together in the rear of the economy cabins and I hope not, but believe their reducing the legroom.
Good old days in Thais Jumbos with 34 inch legroom are gone[emoji22],now A380 with 32 or some even 31! and their B777's are similar.
Whoa is me,whoa is me[emoji17]

If the bikes taxed etc,the basic Government insurance is on the bike(well that's how it works on Cars and trucks)Any extra insurance you'll have to ask the insurance company,if it needs to be in your name.

Up to you about putting in the girlfriends name, people do keep the green book in the old owners name. But I believe you have to have a copy of their ID/passport etc,to register it later. Best to look on here for info.CW will not issue a residency certificate unless you have to do your 90 day report to them and have a Years visa,I'll tried twice with a tourist visa and my girlfriend accompanied me. I had a years condo lease,Bank accounts etc. But no go,sorry but not worth wasting your time going(unless it's changed within the last year)
Ok thanks, good to know so I won't be wasting my time.
Would it be best to put the bike in the gf:s name, or just keep the old green book until I get a non-immigrant visa in a couple of months?
P.S I brought a new Toyota on a tourist visa (and I believe you can even buy a vehicle on a visa exemption),I got the certificate from my local Amphur in Kanchanaburi. Some Police stations will also do a certificate, but just depends on the office and which way the wind is blowing! [emoji17].
Good luck

Triumph is bringing out a water cooled version (2 front discs and ABS) next year, but that radiator looks hideous.
Agreed, hopefully it's only a prototype and not the final version. I'm itching to get a new bike, but do I blow my redundancy payment on it?[emoji41].

We when on the 17th of July at 1130,she saw the kiosk downstairs. They gave her a queue ticket,up to the 28th floor and waited about 30 minutes. Total time about a hour, not too bad. We got a Visitor visa 2 years ago,but you can't track the process anymore. Only sign up to SMS,we got a SMS later that day, saying her application was at the Embassy. Still waiting for more news. Good luck.

Wish I still had my 1975 T140V export model. Got a more modern Trident, but the Bonnie had character. Wish I could find one here!

I got some Motorcycle Antifreeze -coolant(Shell I think)in the UK and it states, made with Distilled water. I always wonder what the difference was between Car and Motorbike. It's a lot more expensive.

I've done several Swift transfers to Bangkok Bank and have only ever put the branch address where the account was opened and no problems.

Thanks again, also there was a mechanic working there, who looked liked he actually knew what he was doing!. Valve clearances etc.
I'll have to ask them when their next stock is in.

Is that the one on the left just before the night market on the way into town?
Thanks for the info and to Papa[emoji106]MAZ3 , when i looked at the X-Cross and the X-Plore , i was informed by the wife of the boss in the Chiang Mai Lifan dealership , that the newer X-Plore had a more powerfull engine , and a 1-down , 4-up ( 5 speed) gearbox . There is a sticker on the side of the gearbox , showing the gearchange pattern , but i cant remember if its the same as the "all down" X-Cross or the "correct" pattern - sorry . Due to reports of this shops servicing standards , i went elsewhere and bought a Platinum PX 250 . Richard in Bangkok , kindly provided the part numbers for a conversion , but it seems people have encountered problems with Lifan HQ confirming what parts are needed . I hired a Lifan for 4 weeks last year , great bike for the price , but i had to think about almost every gearchange , and got it wrong several times .I dont ride wave type bikes , and besides , my other bikes all have the "correct" pattern changes , but an old Montessa does have the gearchange on the right-hand side .
I popped into the Chinese motorbike shop in Kanchanaburi yesterday, but no Cross/trial bikes in stock. They did have some a few months, but must have sold them. I'll look elsewhere.
Cheers
They can get the Keeway Tx200 which imo is better than the Lifan. Think it was 59k bht.
Yes,Yamaha Squares next door.
Is that the only Chinese bike shop?,I've not seen any others.
I did look at some bikes there a few months ago,but can't remember which models they had. I'm in no rush, hopefully they will get more stock in.
I want to at least sit on it for size(I'm 6'1 and 108k),unlikely any test rides?.
Thanks Gents

reflexes get crossed when frequently switching between CBR and 'wave' configured rides.[emoji379][emoji379][emoji353]️[emoji372]
Agreed,I sometimes use the other halfs Spark and forget it's all down. My Triumph in the UK is left hand change, the others were all right hand, not a problem.
Just can't get used all down,is the newer X-cross all down?.

Yes of course, but nearly 5 times better?.
