  1. Dont take it personally Stephff, it is not only you that is finding this problem. Farangs married to Thais now must produce their NEIGHBORS house documents to get their non O. This of course might be somewhat problematic if you don't get along with neighbors or don't have any at all. Visa denied. It's all part of the junta's xenophobia and nobody has been more critical (and hilariously so - thank you!) than yourself. Please continue to lampoon these fools from overseas, you still submit cartoons to the Nation from abroad without a thai work permit.

Must be just where you are , I just did mine no mention of anything close to that , just same stuff as I do every year..
  2. They have no clue , it amazes me to see them on motorbikes . But also I see alot of younger backpackers riding scooters like they have 9 lives . If I see the rental markings on the back of the helmets I steer clear of them ....

  3. Tried this place 3 times already. Cheeseburger + fries twice and rack of ribs once. Perfectly cooked and presented food every time. The ribs were among the best I've ever had and I've had a few. So far the top burger place in Chiang Mai for me.

I ll agree with you , the burger tastes good and for what you pay you get your moneys worth . I ve tried I think most of the burger places in town , so far Elvis has got my vote .
  4. Good so far. They are impounding a tiny percentage of the vehicles. Why some and not others? I wonder what the total penalties are.

In the US, getting a DUI will cost you less than $20. That'll buy a 12 pack of beer, LOL. tongue.png

I dont know where in the US you are talking about or when , but 5 years ago in most stat3s your looking at well over $1000.00 in fines and loose you dl for one year a few days in jail and then pray your insurance isnt cancelled ...
  5. I went in mid/late november to renew extension to stay based on marriage...

Went like last year... 2 copies of every thing... every page in my passport that has a thai stamp in it, lease for the house we live in, notary statement from US consulate, documentation to prove income (copies of warrants from my pension fund), pictures, map, etc.

One new wrinkle was that we were required to prove our marriage. Never been asked for this. I mean, we always had to provide copy of our marriage certificate (from USA), and a translation of said copy, but this year, for the first time, they said we needed a paper to prove that said marriage was recognized in Thailand... as in registered at the ampuhur, the officer said.

So, off to the amphur to see if we could "register" our marriage.

Upon arrival, the amphur clerk told my wife that since she had changed her last name to my name, she had to have filed appropriate documents already. Back home, my wife dug thru her copious files and remembered that indeed, we filed some documents many years ago and they were stamped and signed in BKK and sent off to the Foreign Ministry and stamped again there and our marriage was then officially recognized here in Thailand.

So other than this speed bump on our highway of success, it went smoothly, just like last year.

Last year was the first time we were required to provide this marriage authentication form from the amphur, after 16 years of not knowing it even existed. Now that we have it we just make a copy each year. I still say it is best to get information from the source rather than second or third hand.

Sorry Nancy but you don't have the authority to ban me form your Chiang Mai forum the way you have been band from Chiang Mai Immigration.smile.png

. I've had to show that for the last 6 years .
