OK .... thats what I was afraid of. It is very difficult to get a work permit as a musician in thailand. You pretty much have to go through a big hotel to do it. Unfortunately, my situation is I have a girlfriend with a kid on the way, and she doesn't want to come to the states. It makes more sense at the moment to be in thailand for a while anyway- prenatal care is pretty darned expensive here and she couldn't qualify for social services with a fiance visa.

It is extremely irksome to have to give up doing what you have worked your life to do, though.

How do I go about getting a work permit? I play music, and it is very diffiucult to get a work visa for playing music in thailand. But is it easier to get a work permit for this?

Can I work in Thailand as a musician with a Fimily Reunion (i.e. spousal) visa? BTW - I'm American

If I were a corrupt cop I'd be stopping every foreigner I saw. Expect it to get worse.

Except that the authorites that be don't want the cops to rip off the farangs too much - it'd dampen tourism. Don't kill the hen that laid the golden eggs...
