Rain
in Chiang Mai
Rain, strong winds and thunder, Lamphun, now.
Doesn't look too promising ...
Depends where you live
Nothing yet, but wind....
-
I think it hit the hills east of San Kamphaeng, near On Tai. Stayed well away from Chiang Mai.

Brilliant post eyecatcher. cheered me up no end, as the blood in my body seems near boiling point as the mercury rises.
As I left on Friday, I wondered if the young lad you refer to was the exact chap the signs warn to avoid paying. Not in uniform. Another sign said the waiting time for required letter was 8 to 10 days? Maybe that's for free if you avoid the desk where the money is demanded & just queue up at the official desk in room 4? 500 bt to speed things up? Next day is not speeded up imho - used to take a few minutes at the black hole office.

Shop will fit for "free" if you buy from them. If you buy a full set of 4, they'll throw in free balancing & maybe alignment, plus rotation every 10,000 km.
For BYO, I imagine the charge will be reasonable, such a 150 bt for balancing, more for alignment. Most tyre shops have the prices displayed on the wall.

Picked my residency letter up today. Asked at the 90 day window, & bangmai is correct, we cannot do our reports there.

Just get the girlfriend to tell the waiter to eff off in Thai. Make him lose face & lose his rag, and his job.

37 C outside in the shade at the Smith residence, San Kamphaeng rice fields. Reliable thermometer.

I noticed a "90 day report" window when I was there. Anyone used this office for 90 day reports. Will try to remember to ask when I pick up my RC on Monday.

Weather forecasts are named forecasts for a reason. It is a prediction or estimate of the weather. If one wants a guarantee, I suppose they could look elsewhere.
O.k. but where?
Out the window?

Google "Sumalee lawyer Chiang Mai." Her web site appears to be down at the moment. She is the best in town from what I have seen and heard. She helped me with some legal stuff but it was a much easier problem than the one you have.
I have also heard (but do not know) that if the Thai person in question can't show where they got the $$ from, you may indeed be successful getting justice.
If you can't find a way to contact Khun Sumalee send me a PM. I may have a business card around somewhere.
Friend of mine used her for his divorce here. He nicknamed her "rotweiller" in reference to the the way she went for his ex's jugular...
There was no property involved, but he was well pleased with her work.

Just passed 40C. Did on Wednesday afternoon too. Unbearable.
Unbearable but totally normal.Thunderstorms are expected early next week ,front coming down from China.Give it a week or 3 and hopefully the wet season will kick in.
Mate of mine very sick today. Its not smart to drink a lot of alcohol right now as it just dehydrates you even further. Easy fix .....drink a lot more water.
Water doesn't quite "hit the spot"

The building is behind a large building under construction. You enter along a dirt road between 2 bars, directly across from the Promenada entrance road on highway to San Kamphaeng

500 bt, pick up next working day in afternoon. Located across road south of Promenada.
To apply, go through door 4 on left.
Was there this morning.

It's so hot right now, a light splashing of water would be most welcome. Could've done with some today, but the route I chose was deserted

Planning a cycle ride for tomorrow morning that doesn't go near humans....

Sad thing is that almost nothing that you posted is actually free and most require transportation to get to. There is nothing new or original on your list. The entrance fee to doi suthep cost more than a few meals so that is not nearly free. Waterfalls, I find it ironic that you claim them not to be slippery just a few weeks after a death there. The lake cottages are not free at all. Perhaps you have people paying your way for things and mooch off others so you think they are free.
I had expected to read at least one interesting thing that wasn't common knowledge.
The waterfall mentioned in the article isn't slippery at all. There is still a bit of danger especially when the water is flowing quickly. You can actually walk up it. Here's a video someone made:
It is slippery at the top, due to algae or something green & slimey growing.

Thanks. The Lamphun page was better. Hopefully they'll fix it.

Rain
in Chiang Mai
Massive gusts of estimated 65 to 75 kmph hit ban wangtan about 30 minutes ago, power now out, but no rain yet.
TMD radar shows the main cell moving down from sansai so we might get rain shortly. Keep the hatches battened down as other storm cells are moving around the province.
Can you post a link to tmd radar, please. My bookmark shows it as not working.
Cheers.

Try Mae Khampong. Might be high enough, & probably not much burning as they grow coffee under the forest canopy.

Up to the top of Doi Pui again today (well the turn off to HTT). My observations were lots of cyclists up to the temple, but very few beyond. Shame really, cos the air higher up is SO MUCH CLEANER. Most Thai recreational cyclists do not wear lycra covered in sponsors, but mostly cycling group shirts or event shirts. Most don't ride top of the range carbon frame bikes, but entry level bikes by the major brands. At a guess, mostly under 20,000 baht. The true extra keen riders have the more expensive bikes, but they're in the minority. Up above Phuping Palace, only saw a handful of riders, all westerners.
But all the riders heading up to the temple seemed to be enjoying themselves, & that's what's important. Got overtaken by a tiny Thai lady on her bike with friends. As she passed, one hand on the handlebar, one holding her camera to take a video/selfie of her passing the foreigner

Erm , who's seen buffalo being used in the rice fields? Farmers contract out to a tractor owner to plough the fields. Maybe small terraced fields in the hills can't do that. Btw the rice farmers aren't causing this sh1t. Their burning was mostly done in Novemberish. It's forest burning for those cr@ppy little mushrooms, corn fields being burned for CP or land owners clearing their plots where they've let them turn to jungle as no one uses them.
But some prefer to blame neighbouring countries....
Btw, if I chose to leave countries I wasn't perfectly happy with the way they're run, I'd be permanently on the move, living out of my back pack. What's wrong with calling for change? I live on planet Earth.

Great ... water ways to ease congestion, then use them to attract tourists, then the waterways are crammed with tourists and then u have canal traffic jams
It is such a great idea.. open up more floating markets, and then Thais and Chinese tourists will automatically no longer use the canals as open sewers and rubbish dumps. Sweet smelling canals full of happy fish and tourists playfully splashing each other with water as they drift lazily along the beautifully maintained waterways between golden roofed temples and smiling children....
Sounds good to me. "I'm in". But not the water...
