  1. Having failed to do an online 90 day report using three different computers I visited airport immigration this afternoon at 14:15. Report done no problem and I was leaving within 15 minutes.

One assumes you're not on a retirement visa?

Feedback from friends seems to confirm that the airport office will only process 90-day reports for those visa extensions they currently deal with; therefore not retirement.

At Promenada they appear to be accepting all categories -- however -- one friend on a marriage extension was told by the prom I/O "next time go to airport"

Just feedback on what I hear; so do your own research and make your own decision.

    Or mail it in thumbsup.gif

  2. It seems to happen a lot here, I can't remember ever seeing or hearing of one going back home (but I'm sure they did, just that I wasn't aware). Is there a reason for them going so often?

It's easy to assume poor quality of materials or workmanship, but they seem to go often enough to be very a very expensive part of the supply company meaning quality of both would be a little better regulated.

    It's just the fuse blowing

  3. So you have 2 ProAuto stickers already?

I must get a couple of new tyres soon and I know from Chiangmai 101 their new Michelins were an excellent price.

2 of the Bridgestones on my DMax still have ample tread depth after 8 years and 90,000km's. Can't complain about that!

Hi Rob advise you check the walls and valves on the Bridgestone's,I had mine on for a few years

tread still very good, so I thought OK, till one day I was blowing the tyres up and the whole valve

just snapped off,it was perished with the sun.good job it was parked when it happened.

    regards worgeordie

The rubber hardens with age. Might have tread, but zero grip when wet.
Yes I know .... but when will we get any wet? 555
    Tonight?
  4. Hi all

I was planning to go to Promenada immigration office, but I just tried my 90 days notification online ( Windows 8 / IE )

Within a few minutes, I received an email telling me it was approved... I also printed it easily from Chrome, together with the receipt of notification giving me the next date.

Is that it ? I can't believe it is that simple...

    Phil

Yes, that's it. Now, one has to ask why folk doing it in person need to supply photocopies whistling.gif

  5. Great idea and far better than say....B Quick repairs!

  6. If the worst comes to the worst and you are not home when your EMS/REG reply comes you get a notification card and pick it up at the PO you sent it from.No big deal.

Surely a better option than a trip to Promenda and hanging around a soul less mall for hours.Online does not work for me

Try again, next time. Works for me now, after several failed attempts. Nothing's changed on my end of the deal smile.png

  7. Just managed my second online-report, it took me a few tries with IE on Windows-7, with the drop-down support being very slow to work, but was approved within a couple-of-hours & then the battle to print it out, on my elderly laptop ! rolleyes.gif

Apropos of not much, does anyone know, why do they call it "CHINGMAI" on their system ? I never saw that spelling of it before !

Recognition of the massive influx of new visitors perhaps?

I thought they were using hellodolly's spelling thumbsup.gif

  8. Thanks all..

Anyone with experience or stories about complete loss...?

Can you insure for a fixed sum for complete loss....

Repairs I can manage myself....I just want to be protected if, heaven forbid, the whole thing was lost...

Mine gives a lump sum for complete loss. Never had to make a claim...

QBE office is on east side of moat, next to DK Books, across moat from Mad Dog.

  9. Hmm, does Ian drive a 6 wheel car?

Do tell and put us all out of our misery. laugh.png

???? He wanted to pay 20 baht, but only had a 50 baht note, so he paid with that - and then he expected to get 30 baht in change but got nothing instead. I think you messed up on this one, Chiang Mai.

    Read post #54

OK, now I have read post #54. So what? Are you implying that OP is driving a bus or a big truck or a 6-wheel car, but is unaware of it himself? Yes, that must be it. It makes perfect sense. facepalm.gif

    Nevermind....

  10. Thanks for the heads-up from the OP. wai2.gif

I always carry a few B10-coins in my car, to pay at the airport or Kad-Suan-Kaew, for parking.

If paying with a B1,000-note, for example at the petrol-station, I always say "nung pan baht" as I hand the note over, it seems to work.

At most proper shops like 7-11, Tesco etc the cashier always acknowledges 1000bt given.

    Oh no they don`t.

I`ve had s**t tried on me several times at 7/11s, Tesco Lotus, Big C, petrol stations and MacDonalds. Handed over a 1000 baht note for items costing 100 baht up to 200 baht. Cashier counts the change out in 100 baht notes and a few loose coins, no 500 baht note in the change, throws the bundle of 100 baht notes with some coins into my hand and rushes off quick. Check my change and it`s 100 baht short. This has happened to me on several occasions and I`ve caught onto this now. I don`t trust any of these lying, cheating busters and always on the alert at these places.

Well, they do with me. I assume that's how they've been taught. Maybe I look particularly threatening when i hand the 1000 note over whistling.gif
