  1. I've read lots on here about the 2 Million Baht Share capital company and think I understand most of it.

    But

Is there another options to get a work permit through a thai company you set-up for your gf. (No comments about watching your back please)

    or

Any other options. (Don't want to work for private company)

I'm 50 and UK Passport holder.

  2. I think I have everything to get myself a 1 year licence except proof of house rental. The landlord is from Germany and at the moment is in Germany with his thai wife for 8 months (house in her name). I have got two monthly receipts for rental in english but no rent book, I pay the next door neighbour at the moment. We are in Hua-hin (Thai gf & me). Any ideas before I go to apply and explain the situation.

Not sure if I can say we are living with her brother in Bangkok who owns his place so can get some documentation but prefer not to go down the bullshit road.

    Cheers

  4. Out of curiosity I will draw a tenner from my SCB account in the UK and see what they give me. I would imagine that it will be worse than buying UK pounds (T/C's) with Baht in Thailand.

If I go the retiree route then everyones in the same boat if they raise the minimum from 800,000K. So someone with a retiree visa that is 10 years renewed will have to pay the new minimum. That is correct isn't it?

Thanks Guys for all your input, much food for thought

  5. Couple of things:

It's good to hear that you can get repeats on the multi-entry visas.

With regards the 800,000K it would be nice if I could get some out to the UK for interest purposes. I would have thought the ATM route would consist of really bad exchange rates and you would have to weigh up the odds, unlike the Nationwide Card.

BTW limit on not taking out more then 50K signs were posted at Don Muang 4 weeks ago.

  6. I visit thailand normally 5 times a year for 3 to 4 week each time. I am planning to increase my length of stay starting this christmas as I plan a 6-7 week stay. I will then increase my stay as time goes by, I'm 51, UK Passport.

    My question:

I'm planning on getting an non-immigrant 'O' Thai visa, multiple entry with reason being planning retirement at Hull. After the year visa has expired is it easy to get another O visa the following year with the same reason?

  7. Well I hope we don't have another 'once in a lifetime event' as there was more last night and our bungalow still has a foot of water inside, Outside 3 foot in places and forcast more to come. Living in a hotel which is not such fun when your used to your own place and stressed up to the eyeballs!

  8. Thanks for the updates guys. Much appreciated. Which building company had the great idea to build a couple of estates in such a deep depression? PeaceBlondie, funny you said that about 50 years, my girlfriend said she was told the exact same thing yesterday.

  9. Paid 9000 baht to have my dell 15 inch screen replaced with a second hand one, top floor pantip. Asked many places all about same price. Did it in 40 minutes. I was happy as in the UK they would have told me to buy a new one.
