I'm an American in Sukhothai trying to find closest crossing into Laos to renew my visa. Any help would be appreciated

Are you asking about getting a visa at an embassy or consulate or getting a new entry from a multiple entry visa of some kind?

For a border crossing to get a new entry with a valid visa Mae Sot to Myanmar would be the nearest crossing.

For a visa Nong Khai to Vientiane or Mukdahan to Savannakhet

My lady insists Uddaradit is best but I don't see border crossing there

Do you a visa issued by an embassy or consulate or did you get a 30 day visa exempt entry.

If you got a visa exempt entry you can get a 30 day extension of it at an immigration office.

Mae Sot as far as I now does not allow a crossing for a new visa exempt entry.

There is a crossing there but I am not sure you can get a visa on arrival there.

You can get a 30 day extension at an immigration office unless your visa exempt entry is from a bilateral agreement. What is your nationality.

A tourist visa allows a 60 day entry. A visa exempt entry is for 30 days and I am certain that is what you got.

You can apply for a 30 day extension at immigration in Sukhothai.

Info on location of it is here.

Yes but live here peacefully for how long? , Because you would be barking up the wrong tree if you plan to do it in constant Tourist Visa's

Plenty of posts about that one

You said you got 30 days at airport Bangkok, so you are not on tourist visa, you have a visa exempt entry.

You can extend it at Immigration for 1900 baht and get 30 days more.
