Andaman club, Ranong

Featured Replies

Has anyone had any experience of doing a Visa Exempt at the Andaman Club Ranong lately?

I have quite a few TV's and VE in my PP (only 1 VE this year)

Anybody had any issues when coming back, did they ask to see 20k and/or a ticket out?

Also how much was the boat across and the Burmese visa, it's a long time since I've been there and have forgotton

Any advice is welcome

I was there two weeks ago. No problem for me as I have non o. There's a notice in Immigration asking for 20k plus an onward ticket for people with a TV....The boat etc to the island and back is 850THB.

950 baht

This notice for 20k must be a new one. I didnt see one a little over a month ago. They would likely not let you out anyway if you do not qualify at that border. Similar at the Saphan Pla border. It prevents people being stuck in no-mans land.

They did use a magnifying glass to check box the existing stamps on departure. Pretty straight-forward process though.

Try to cross before 16:00, as immigration on thai side closes at 17:00 or 18:00.

Are you driving yourself directly to the andaman pier, or taking bus to Ranong?

You can go to Kiwi Orchard Guesthouse near the bus station and get roundtrip transportation there and even buy the ticket through them. (same price 950, but they will help u if there is an issue. )

Taxi is 300 baht and can be round-trip if your trip is short. But many of the private tuk tuks will be 500 baht and likely 1-way.

Thanks to you both for your help,

I live in Hua Hin, I don't drive so will get a taxi, it's been a long time since I last went there, it's probably  a 4.5 hour drive from memory, no problem for the time they close as I will leave at around 4am

There are coach buses and minivans that go from Chumphon << >> Ranong from 110-120 baht.  Here is a copy of one of the coach buses (RungKit tour) that leaves from Chumphon Town (Choke-a-nan) 5 times a day. (minivans are more frequent)

But, there should be buses that go from Hua Hin to Ranong (or Phuket via Hwy 4), so that would avoid having to change in Chumphon.

A private taxi.....you can talk to some locals and see.  A friend of mine got moved from a bungalow in Chumphon to Hua hin (round trip starting in Hua Hin) for 6000 baht; same day.  Good deal IMO.

Also, bring your swim trunks, because you can go swimming in the big pool at the Andaman resort.
