Fire damages riverside houses in Chai Nat province

A fire ravaged five houses of a community on the banks of the Chao Phraya River in Chai Nat province early Thursday, police said.
 

The fire started at a house in the community in Moo 3 village in Tambon Tha Chanuan, Manorom district, at 5am.

The blaze spread quickly and engulfed four other houses. Firefighters took about three hours to control the blaze.

Pensri Rodprom, the owner of the house where the fire started, said she was cooking rice with an electric cooker when there was a short circuit, resulting in a fire that spread through her house quickly.

The damage to the five houses was estimated at Bt10 million.
