PETCHABUN, 18 September 2017 (NNT) – Tourists have continued to travel to Phu Thap Berk mountain of Petchabun province despite a fatal explosion earlier this month.

Tourists continued to be seen making the most of the mountain’s 15-20 degrees Celsius weather this past weekend, with many stating they greatly enjoyed its morning fog and other attractions and were not disturbed by news that a bombing had taken place in the area only weeks before.

The incident took place on September 10 and was due to a land dispute. Petchabun Governor Piboon Hatakijkosol gave his guarantee for the safety of visitors and said military and police units were patrolling the entire area both in uniform and plain clothes. He reminded that anyone experiencing troubles can call 191 for assistance.

On the removal of illegal resorts setup in the mountain area, the governor said the effort was nearing completion and that a new rehabilitation program is to start soon.

A total 103 resorts were deemed encroaching on the national park land with 40 so far hit with legal action. Only 13 resorts owned by investors remain with 50 operated by local Mhong given leniency by the Cabinet for the time being.
