PATTAYA: -- A majority of people want the next election to be held in not later than September next year and the Democrat Party is for the time-being their favourite, according to the result of an opinion survey by the Super Poll research centre.

The survey was conducted between Sept 5-16 on 1,480 people to gauge their opinions on Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha’s visit to the United States and on the next general election.

On Gen Prayut’s visit to the US, scheduled for October, a majority, or 75.4%, of the respondents said they did not know about it. Only 24.6% said they did.

Asked when they thought should be the right time for the next elelction, 55.1% said it should come in not later than September next year and 44.9% said it should be held after that.

Apparently. "what difference would it make" was not one of the choices.

Excuse me while I wade through the brown stuff

Was this poll taken just after the coup? I'd have thought a majority of people would only want an election after the roadmap was finished and the 'ornagnic' laws had been passed. And they're happy to wait as long as it takes. And no need to ask the people. The PM can tell you all this.

"Asked what they expected from the prime minister’s US visit, 56.8% of the respondents mentioned promotion of trade and investments; 48.8% cooperation in the field of education; 31.4% the people’s security; 31.4% labour protection and welfares; and 29.1% solutions to human-trafficking problems."

If the US visit goes ahead, none of these things are likely to be discussed or dealt with.  BTW, what is "the people's security" and how would a US visit affect this?

More and more nonsense...

Everyone I know wants them out NOW. I live in a mix of red and yellow. Both sides are sick of them. Once again another nonsense poll.

If you want to elections, do not encourage coups.   The majority will probably be disappointed.

Elections in Sep 2018?

And Santa Claus exists!

guess what: the Prayuth People Party will win that election

It's not a nonsense poll, it's a SUPER POLL!

I will only possibly maybe accept the result of a "Very Super Duper" poll, unless of course there is the option for the "Ultimate Very Super Duper" poll or better.

The majority wanted elections in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017.

As for 2018, the poll should have included "2018 and beyond - who cares?"

He wants to go in the record books as the longest coup. Elections are along way off.

1480 people polled out of a population of 68 million people?  That is 0.2.17*10^-5% not a poll worth mentioning more less a "SUPER POLL"

Of course it is a 'Super Poll', normally no one is allowed to express their opinion.

Correct.  The majority wanted an election in February 2014 then, after Suthep and his minions prevented that, in July 2014.

The majority also didn't want a coup, but the junta was never about what the majority wants.

"... the Democrat Party is for the time-being their favourite..."

" 32.6% mentioned the Democrat Party under the leadership of Abhisit Vejjajiva; 27.8% said they would vote for newly-set up medium and small parties; 19.1% said they would vote for the Pheu Thai Party, whose next leader is still uncertain; and 20.5% had no comment or were still uncertain."

Another interpretation is that less than one third support the Democrat Party.

That's not True!*

"Up to 84.3 per cent of leaders of 601 communities nationwide support National Council for Peace and Order Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha as the next prime minister, the Mater Poll survey of the Thai Researchers in Community Happiness Association has found." (14 August 2014)

yes it was. The "Muan Maha Prachachon", the "great mass of the people" supported it. Suthep assured us of this.
