BANGKOK: -- Airport police swooped after a woman complained that her Samsung Galaxy Note was stolen while it was on charge at Suvarnabhumi.

Victim Mrs Amporn Ninkhammon, 56, had earlier pointed out where her 18,000 baht phone had been charging on the first floor near exit 4.

Police and airport security examined CCTV and got a good lead after the theft midweek and a warrant was issued.

The miscreant was fat, had arm tattoos, jeans and flip-flops.

That detailed descripton led to a suspect being seen again in a nearby area on Friday.

Chokcharoen Sae-eung, 26, was apprehended and charged with theft at the airport, at night.

Such a charge - Article 335 of the criminal code - carries the possibility of 1 to 5 years jail and/or a fine of 2-10,000 baht.

Chokcharoen admitted everything.

Police said passengers should call the following number if they see anything suspicious or are the victims of theft at the airport: 02 132 4000 (24 hours).

Good for her and Thanks to the Thai Police and AP Security.

A few years ago my computer was stolen in the Malaysian KLIA. The Security even showed the theft to me on surveillance, told me about the gang of thieves in KLIA and then laugh about me ever getting it back.

The passenger went off and left an 18,000 baht phone where someone could steal it? Why not just leave a pile of banknotes for someone to pick up! Jeeez!

She should be charged for stealing electricity.

Stupid and nieve.  Where does she think she was ...Honest-ville?

let me place a safe bet that he will never go to jail for one year for this...

"was fat, had arm tattoos, jeans and flip-flops". Let me make this perfectly clear: I WAS NOT THERE!

I use a basic Motorola, no one wants to steal my phone.
