The HR Head is on a long vacation. As a result, nobody to issue a new letter of employement stating position, salary and tenure.

I have the old employment letter which is already 3.5 months old.

Will that be OK or does the government disregard old letters just as they do doctor's certificates that are older than one month? I also have tax forms from 2005 (one year statement with reciept printed off the internet) and the last three months of tax forms the company sends every month. Will this be enough?

I have put off going to extend my Non O but now know for sure the HR Head will not be back before my first 3 month Non O will expire. My visa expires in less than a week. Many people say one should go two weeks before it expires but up until now I have not been able to go? If I apply to extend my visa at the last minute, will that stop me from getting a one year extension?

I talked to immigration and they said they do in fact want a letter of employment (letterhead of company with title, lenght of service and monthly salary) in addition to everything else such as the tax documents. I am simply going to follow the list that Sunbelt gave a few months ago.

Luckily the HR assistant is now able to issue a letter on behalf of her superior. It took some doing but it seems OK now. Now we will go in early next week before my visa expires. From what immigration told me, we can go in on the day the visa expires and apply and, if worst comes to worst, they can grant us a short extension to get our papers in order!
