The Meteorological Department on Thursday (Oct 12) reaffirmed the public of no imminent threat of more flooding from three tropical storms expected to hit the country within the next 1-2 weeks.

The affirmation came after a report of three imminent tropical storms to hit the country in October is widely spread on the social media after some weather experts forecast from their own simulations.

The department said it’s own weather simulations have confirmed no tropical storms approaching during the period, but just low pressure trough blanketing Myanmar which has an impact on the South of Thailand.

Right now Tropical Depression Twenty Four is about to cross the northern Philippines heading due west. The depression is forecast to strengthen to a category 1 typhoon as it crosses the South China Sea  before making landfall in Vietnam on Monday.  On Tuesday it is forecast to be a tropical storm over northeast Thailand and Laos:

The nameless and blameless weatherman says....no imminent tropical storms approaching the country.

I suspect he has the weather map upside down. I think he is meaning to say there is no tropical drought approaching the country.

Message : No imminent threat of flooding..........but storms due.

Rivers full, dams overflowing but no imminent threat of flooding.

All right then, our orchard is safe. Or am I way off mark here?

Storm and weather predictions can change.  No problem.

What confuses me is this guy seems to suggest the previous storm warning(s) weren't official and merely circulated via social media.

No.... On Wednesday, the Thai Met Office said it was their prediction/forecast, and it was released on Thai PBS.  The Prime Minister reacted to it officially as well.   See below link.

"The Meteorological Department forecasted that, during October 12-14, a storm which was shaping up in Vietnam would move through upper Thailand and this would cause heavy rain in the lower part of the North and upper Northeast."
