Have received a tourist visa in my home country /Poland/ but upon arrival Thai immigration stamped "admitted untill" for 30 days instead of 60.

Am planning to stay 47 days.

Do I need to extend the visa at the immigration /staying in Phuket/ or do I need to make a border run??

Thank you for your help

looks like they didn't see your visa and thought you were coming in under the 30 day on arrival stamp. that's why you always check your passport before leaving immigration :o

just great - my luck. Do you think I should just disregard the validity stamp or go to Phuket immigration to clear it up?

I agree with Rainman , probably just a mistake.

I have at times advised people on a visa run to check

their stamp immediately as it must be so much easier

to correct it on the spot.

Maybe you forgot to fill in the visa details on the

immigration card so the guy never looked for the

visa.

Check the visa sticker in your passport. If

immigration hadn't marked anything on (when

it is used up they rubber-stamp it "Used")

then it is still valid (check the 'Enter Before"

date).

If what I am surmising is correct then you can

have the pleasure of a day trip to Ranong/Kaw Thaung

but this time be sure to fill out the visa details

when you are coming back through Thai immigration.

Good luck

:o

It is VITAL that you visit your local immigration and get it fixed (free and easy).

EDIT Unless of course you intend leaving the Kingdom before your 30 day stamp is ended :o

As others have noted, probably just a 'didn't see the visa' error.

Indeed - they have stamped "used Dec 27,2006" ie date I have arrived BKK and on the opposite page they stamped "admitted untill 25 Jan,2007".

Not right!!! Dont think it is a mistake, since the new rules Polish Passport holders only get 30 days with a tourist visa as they are not a country in List A. From what I can see you wont get a visa free stamp either but you can get a 15 day VOA.

I stand corrected. Poland is in list "B" and get only 30 days on a "TR" visa.

"15 day VOA" - do I obtain it in Phuket Immigration?

Posted

This is not a mistake. There are only 36 countries that receive 60 days on a tourist visa and Poland is not one of them. He can extend his stay for 30 days at the end of his normal permitted to stay period of 30 days. A visa on arrival would only provide an additional 15 days.

A VOA is a Visa on Arrival and is only available as you arrive in Thailand, however all is not lost as you can extend your tourist visa by another 30 days at the immigration office in Phuket for B1900 and some passport photos.
