Non B Visa help info!!

Featured Replies

I am Lebanese coming from Beirut. I would like to experience life in Thailand, specifically Chiang Mai.
Is it a nice place to be? Will I be able to find a job and live decently?
I just want to know, and my main concern in to know in case the embassy gave me a 90 - days none B visa, with single entry, will I be able to extend the visa to a one year none B visa when I find a job there?
Please I need to know this to be legit while I stay there.
Can anyone help me?

If you find employment with a legitimate company, you will be able to get a 1 year extension of stay based on employment, after your work permit has been approved.

However - to get a single entry non B visa you will normally need to submit documents from a Thai company that supports your applicant.

That company's name might be written on the bottom of your visa sticker, and you might only be allowed to get a work permit for that particular company.

A bit difficult to say if you don't mention your qualifications.

It depends on who you ask.

A very subjective question.  My piece of general advice, if you want to experience anywhere in Thailand as a nice place:  If you respect Thai culture and traditions, you should get along OK with Thai people.  They are generally forgiving of ignorance of cultural-norms - seeing foreigners somewhat like children who "don't know better," rather than "bad" people - even when we do something they consider quite "rude."  But it would be best to approach Thailand with a willingness to learn and follow cultural norms, which are not particularly restrictive.

In heavily tourist-areas - Chang Mai, Pattaya, Phuket - there will be less of an expectation of this, as there is the ability of foreigners to, essentially, inculcate themselves in a bubble that only touches Thai culture on its edges.  But if you will be working with Thais on a daily basis, a greater flexibility to adapt will be helpful.
