Stagnant floodwater causing health problems for monks in Ang Thong

By The Nation

Monks at a temple in Ang Thong's Pamok district have complained that the polluted floodwater at their temple is causing health problems.

Phra Wannop Mahapoonyo of the Wat Amphawan in Moo 1 village in Tambon Pamok of Pamok district said his temple has been under floodwater for days and is now causing a bad smell and a serious mosquito problem.

Luckily, the second floor living quarters are still above water, he said.

Monks have started to suffer from skin disease and athlete's foot, he said.

He said dogs and cats had to live with monks on the second floor and some of them were still stranded on rooftops. Monks had to feed stranded animals by boat, he added.
