rooster59
Libyan Salafist-led force breaks up comic festival for "indecency" TRIPOLI (Reuters) - A Libyan force that acts as an anti-crime unit in Tripoli said it had arrested the organisers of a comic festival for "acts of indecency and against public morals". The arrests were carried out by the Special Deterrence Force (Rada), a Salafist-led armed group that has expanded its power under Libya's U.N.-backed Government of National Accord. Salafists are ultra-conservatives whose influence has grown across Libya in recent years. The arrests cut short the second three-day annual Comic Con festival of arts, comics, anime and gaming to be held in the capital. The arrests were made on Friday, the second day of the event. Some Libyans had attacked Comic Con organisers on social media for holding the event, saying it was un-Islamic and resembled a Halloween party. The organisers said on their Facebook page that the festival had nothing to do with Halloween. They posted no immediate comment on the arrests. Rada said in its statement that festivals like Comic Con were "derived from abroad and exploit weakness of religious faith and fascination with foreign cultures". "The organisers and supervisors of the event were arrested and will be presented for public prosecution for acts of indecency and against public morals," it said in a statement. "It is necessary to address these destructive phenomena and fight them, which drive the dissemination of pornography and feed the minds of teenagers and motivate them to kill and mutilate through well-known cartoons." -- © Copyright Reuters 2017-11-

As religion is both a control system and a power system, it is inevitable they will butt heads. When you study the big three objectively they are all based on misunderstanding, misinterpretation or just pure nonsense. None teach what their later adopted "founders" did. The great irony being that original Judaism (on which the others are based) had a different view of the universe to the latter adopted notion of Jehovah. Moses era initiated Jews would have regarded Jehovah as a minor deity and not the actual creator, they were closer then to a Buddhist type philosophy. And who gives Salafi groups inspiration and support? And who was the inspiration behind ISIS and Al-Quaeda? All roads lead to Riyadh and Wahhabism it seems. Reminds me of the mythical Hydra. Like hard-line Sunni Islam it possessed many heads. And for every head chopped off (think ISIS and Al-Quaeda) the Hydra would regrow two more. And like the baleful influence these groups exude wherever they spring up, the Hydra had poisonous breath and blood so virulent that even its scent was deadly. Not all roads nausea , a side road was via the House of Saud and the sympathetic Bush oil dynasties who turned a very not very blind eye to all that Al Qaeda and Bin Laden nonsense - until it hit them in the form of a few rouge planes flying towards the World Trade Centre .... That is 100% true, and a reason why formerly relaxed and quite liberal Indonesia is becoming an extremist and hardliner state. The Saudis pour Millions and Millions of $$$ into the country to promote Wahabbism and flood the country with hardline-preachers
