The mother and younger brother of a former reporter of a television station, who is now serving a six years and eight months jail term for attempted murder, on Monday (Nov 6) submitted a petition with the Justice Ministry in the hope to get the jail sentence reviewed.

The petition was submitted to Pol Col Dusadee Arayawut, a deputy permanent secretary for justice, by Riab and Surakrai Thongyai, the mother and younger brother of Natcha Thongyoi, a former reporter and news anchor of a television station.

On Jan 4, 2013, Suchart, another younger brother of Ms Natcha, had a heated exchange of words with a neighbour over a land dispute. Suchart fired a shot that wounded the neighbour.

According to Surakrai, Ms Natcha came out of the house after hearing the gun shot to see what was happening. He said Ms Natcha was not involved in the quarrel.

However, about two months later the prosecutors filed a lawsuit against Ms Natcha, charging her with supporting the criminal offence and attempted murder.

That's horrible.

I hope she gets justice.

Innocent people in prison is inexcusable. These prosecutors should spend a month in prison as part of their training.

That is IF what the family of the one in prison is telling the truth, it could be a ploy to get him off the hook. Still it never hurts to do an investigation.

The guy that was shot is not dead.

A simple question to him would clear it up. He would know who was there at the time.
