Nathee Klibthong

PRIME MINISTER Prayut Chan-o-cha has invoked his absolute powers under the interim charter’s Article 44 to allow National Village and Urban Community Fund Office director Nathee Klibthong to remain in his senior position until November 5 of next year.

Order No 50/2560 issued by the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), which was published in the Royal Gazette on Thursday, was justified on the grounds that the office had performed well and undertaken ongoing projects that needed continuing support.

In addition, the selection of a new office director would take time.

In the interest of maintaining progress in ongoing projects, Nathee was retained in the position.

He has served as the office’s director since 2008, while the National Village and Urban Community Fund has operated for about 16 years after being established in 2001 by the government of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

As of this year, the fund is worth Bt60 billion with 60,000 village funds under its supervision.

Why not use the same justification to keep Prayut as PM through 2018?

Or throughout the 20-year Reform Plan?

Elections are just an expensive nuisance when one has absolute power "to do whatever."

Glad they have the sense to keep that Thaksin's program and OTOP and UHC

Good old reliable Article 44. Always there when needed; whether acquiring gold mines or saving the jobs of high flying executives. At least Klibthong can stay on the gravy train until Prayut re-appoints him to some other well paid job after the "election" next November.
