November 13, 20178 yr I seldom drink sugary drinks - i.e soda (coke pepsi) etc. I like to drink the various brands of sugar-free Japanese tea - e.g. Pokka etc. I would probably on average drink at least one a day. From 7/11 and other convenience stores these were about 25 baht a bottle, in supermarkets they were about 18to 22 baht. Last week I picked up a bottle from my usual store and went to pay and was asked for 30 baht. It now seems that these bottles overnight have increased from maximum 25 to 32 baht. THis reprsnts an increase of up to 33% in one giant leap. I really can't see how this price jump is justified - obviously the suppliers are controlling the price and the retailers have to comply if they want stock. quite apart from the huge jump in price, this flies in the face of claimed government policy. Thailand is suffering from a glut of sugar elated diseases and is meant to be discouraging the consumption of sugary drink, yet sugar free drinks - not only less available but 20 to 125 % more expensive. It just seems that business is gouging wherever they can.
November 13, 20178 yr I have order for Coke Zero at 22.5 baht per 1.25lt from Tesco - normal price is 24 baht. So do not see any increase for this product. You did notice the below? Perhaps they increased prices to fulfill the slashed price request. Edited November 13, 20178 yr by lopburi3

Every evening they also slap 50% discount stickers on all perishable items and inventory clearance (slow sellers) items. Best Value in Thailand as far as Modern shops. And cleaner than most 7s or Supermarkets by far. I'll give a shout out to my 2 locals on RatchadaPisek and Ratchapruek in Talat Phlu/Taphra area of Bangkok. MaxValu is the best ! They also have 2 for 1 or 3 for 2 deals on sugar free drinks anytime they sell slowly so almost every week there are deals. Edited November 13, 20178 yr by tonray
November 13, 20178 yr Now with an financial incentive to do so, is the perfect time to give up all that gnats peeeese poison they call soda. Best to drink bottled water or even soda water and believe me. you`ll feel better for it, cheaper and healthier too.
November 14, 20178 yr Author I went to Max Value last night....in the fridge the Pokka was 25 Baht....about 4 bottles. On the uncooled shelves they were priced at 30 Baht. Tesco Lotus Express 7/11 Jiffy and Family Mart were all 30 to 32 baht, Tesco Chonburi were 22 baht on sale. It looks like some are selling old stock at original price. This is unusual in Thailand as retailers usually raise prices stock bought at the old price to the new retail price. Edited November 14, 20178 yr by Airbagwill
