Public Health Ministry’s senior official Dr Yorn Chiranakhon on Tuesday surrendered to police over three serious charges linked to an incident last Friday in which his car hit a security guard within the ministry compound in Nonthaburi’s Muang district and dragged him for 20 metres.

After his surrender, following the incident’s video clip going viral on Monday, Yorn heard the charges of reckless driving causing serious injury, driving while being intoxicated and attempted pre-meditated murder from police investigators.

Deputy national police chief Pol General Weerachai Songmetta told reporters after Yorn’s interrogation that the attempted murder charge was on the table because he paused the car 25 seconds after hitting the guard before rolling the car forward, running over him and dragging him for a distance.

He said Yorn confessed to the reckless driving charge but denied other charges, although police were confident in all the charges based on evidence including CCTV footage and witnesses.

The report in the other paper reads like they are already making excuses for him. The gates are very dark, there needs to be more lighting in the area, they will repaint the gate etc etc.

Wagons are being circled, and soon the fix will be in.

Pathetic ..

Was on the table? Let´s just hope that he have to eat it.

Agreed to Reckless Driving but must have forgotten all the rest as he was intoxicated

So 500 bht for reckless driving

I could not bring myself to watch the CCTV so did not know that the <deleted> sat there for 25 seconds while deciding what to do with the poor mans life.

At that point nothing to do with poor lights or any other feeble s***.

The answer that he seemed to find perfectly satisfactory?.........End it.

Complete and utter worthless, worthless, double plus <deleted>.

Ah, that explains why he didn’t have to be tested for drunkenness.

Nothing will happen to him. Sad.

I feel that this man should be given some leeway. He is a public servant, no doubt under a great deal of pressure. He and his cohorts are keeping the Kingdom safe, following the roadmap and bringing happiness back to the people, without looking for self reward. Also he is no doubt kind to dogs.

Said nobody.

As my son used to say ( much to my regret) when he was 5 years old "Ahoo".

A few 1000 Baht Fine and move on...... slappy slappy wrist.....

Will he be added to the already too long list of "hi-so" scum getting away with murder? Hope they will figuratively "hang him".

(Getting away as in a pathetic low penalty, no punishment, and buying off the family)

As expected.

More senior in society hierarchy than the drunk Merc driver who killed two and the minor actress who killed a cop.

Will cost him some money to the family,  a bit of lost face, and maybe some public merit making.

I agree

Questions will go like this

1/ Why did you run over guard  A/ did not see him

2/ Did you mean it? A/No

3/ Are you sorry you did it A/Yes

4/How sorry?  A/Very sorry

5/ Did you pay your corruption money A/Yes

We  will make it look good but dont worry you paid your money Nothing will happen Just put on show for Thai people

Maybe he will be tried found guilty and then get bail.

What a bizarre system totally favoring the wealthy and connected .

I believe he's out on bail pending appeal. Not the verdict but the sentence I think.

The actress who killed the sleeping cop and got let off was arrested again for DUI and smashing some parked vehicles.

No Hiso elite is ever going to change their ways because of something that happens to someone they consider socially unequal. Seen it so many times and yes, it sickens and angers.

We are seeing this more and more,

This is sickening and the fact that he was not alcohol and drug tested is disgraceful and may be an aggravating factor.

I am appalled and sickened by the constant perversion of justice by the wealthy and connected Thai HiSo

This was a particularly terrible incident . It occurred in front of many witnesses and has had wide publicity.

He is a senior government official, one of the top doctors. A man who should be held in high regard, a man who should be of impeccable character. A man to respect.

He must be made an example; of how the law treats all, regardless of their place in society.

That may require as much as a fortnight.

When the country's Health Ministry is commanded by people as evil as Yorn, it won't be long before the entire nation is sick. When the Generals learn to see the evil within their administrative ranks, maybe Thailand will stand a chance of getting healthy again, but not until then. And they see this as a time to run popularity polls . . . amazing.

Evil, what evil - this is a hi-so that is currently in the frame so give it 2 weeks and it will be well and truly forgotten, swept under the carpet, a non event, needs further investigaton etc.
