November 22, 20178 yr Looking thru threads there is mention of ways to get a long stay visa for 1900 baht. What's the process
November 22, 20178 yr Not a visa, but a one year EXTENSION of a Non-O visa if that's what you have. Need to be 50 years old or more, and baht in the bank, baht 800,000 for three months, or be able to show an income of at least baht 65,000 per month, or a combination of both, the baht in the bank and monthly income. Mac
November 22, 20178 yr You would apply for a one year extension of stay (it is not a visa) based upon retirement at an immigration office. You first would need a 90 day non-o visa entry from a embassy, consulate or by applying for a 90 day non immigrant visa entry at immigration.

Mac It would only need to be in an account for 60 days for the first extension. It's 3 months for the second and subsequent extensions.

Is it something I can do on my own? Have done perm resident visa b4 for ex Thai wife

The official one does not have instructions on how to do it. For the visa application the requirements are here. https://www.immigration.go.th/content/service_80 For the extension application here. https://www.immigration.go.th/content/service_22
November 23, 20178 yr I do not mean to be nasty but why do you not go to the Thai Immigration website & look things up for yourself like I did. I also started from scratch 13.5 years ago. I came here on an 'O' visa for a year & on the 89th day I went back to UK to see my mother for 2 weeks during a 2 year period until she died, then I got the retirement visa as they wrongly call it. SEEK & YE SHALL FIND IT'S NOT DIFFICULT.

While referring to the Thai immigration website (and embassy websites) is a reasonable first step, I would caution people that the information they provide is often wrong, and confirmation using this forum is actually a good idea.

That is a embassy website that has nothing to do with the Thai immigration bureau. Embassies and consulates are under the ministry for foreign affairs

It is an official site, and the starting place to get information about visas if you are applying from the Canberra Embassy. Once you're in Thailand, and looking for an extension of stay, the best advice is to contact your local immigration office who will tell you exactly what is needed. Generic information about extensions can be found on the immigration website or by asking this forum. Edited November 26, 20178 yr by elviajero
