An ex-honor roll student who couldn’t find a job was arrested for snatching a foreigner’s purse in Pattaya, police said in a press conference today.

Police tracked down the 27-year-old graduate, only identified as Jakkapong, via CCTV footage and identified him as the thief who stole a bag from a male foreigner while he was having a coffee at Grand Hall Market in South Pattaya on Nov. 17.

Jakkapong was arrested yesterday at Chaimongkol Temple. Police found the victim’s bag, wallet, Samsung phone, credit card, and passport in his possession, along with the clothes matching the suspect in the CCTV, Sanook reported.

Ex-honor from which 'famous' university?

They say PhD means poor, helpless and desperate. Seems we are getting nearer to the truth.

Does his family have clout? Since when is apologetic wai in motorcycle helmet allowed?

Daft Punk has some serious competition out there !

ahh the future of Thailand at hard at work

He is on a roll now

The farang shouldn’t wai this scumbag

So he's been caught red-handed with the stolen items yet he isnt being prosecuted and doesnt even have to show his face? That's a real deterrent to both the thief and anyone else considering doing the same thing.

Of course, if they did actually prosecute all the thieves it could tie up the courts and jails for several decades.

Nice one Patt is everyone here so corrupt you dare not show your face, farang have to, so why not you?

How can someone be an "ex-honor roll student"?

As far as I know you are one for life... unless the title gets stripped somehow.

Probably a result from snatching the Dean's purse...

I checked the full story - no where is there any mention of punishment.  The thief is obviously the son of the fat cop whose knee he is sat on; hence the privilege of keeping his helmet on so he is not identified in the newspaper story.

Thailand and Justice is an oxymoron.

Too bad most of the foreigners here don't know the wai culture. The foreign guy is giving the Thai crook a high wai, which shows more respect than the kinda low wai the Thai guy is giving. Much can be told by a wai... just like a handshake can tell much about who you are shaking hands with.

Personally I would have used the middle finger...

Not politically correct 555

Unlikely this is a one-off. The number of graduates who cannot find jobs to suit their qualifications has been rising here for years. Right now men and women with degrees account for nearly a fifth of all the unemployed.
