The Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) today (Nov 29) ordered the Sea Oil Petrochemical Pcl to cease operation of its factory for 30 days for safety improvement following yesterday’s oil truck fire and explosion at the factory.

The order was given by the IEAT governor Veerapong Chaiperm.

Under his order, the factory must cease operation for 30 days to fix and improve the affected facilities from  the incident.

He also said the company must explain in details the cause of the incident, and must resubmit its improved oil transportation plan that meet safety standards to the IEAT for consideration and approval before being permitted to reopen again.

They can determine the cause before the truck has cooled down, what a joke.

At this time I would have thought they would have still been trying to determine the cause, and whether it was the fault of The delivery company, the tanker driver, the receiving company or any of their employees, or even another company or person.

If they know in such a short time what improvements need doing then they must have been well aware before the accident, to me that is criminal negligence.
