Onward travel ticket advice

Featured Replies

I'm going to get a tourist visa in Phnom Pen next week and after talking to people here it seems like they probably won't accept my ticket back to the USA in June because it exceeds the 2 month term of the visa (after that I was planning to get another visa in Laos). Is it a good idea to just buy a one-way ticket outside of the country and then skip the flight? I'm in Chiang Mai and it's cheaper to take a bus to Vientiane than fly there (since I checked last) and it's only 1000 baht or so to get a one-way ticket. The statement on the embassy says they request "proof of onward travel" so they're already reading things into the law that don't exist (the 2 months term) but I don't want to risk failing my application and missing my flight out of Cambodia so wasting 1000 seems like a good solution.

Thanks.

You could use a one way ticket to a nearby country from any airport in Thailand for proof of onward travel.

If using an agent for the visa application in Phnom Penh, and you do not have a convenient onward flight arranged, your agent will take care of that requirement for a small fee.

Thanks for the tips guys. I just wanted to make sure before I did something stupid.

Vientiane does not need proof of onward travel.
