December 15, 20178 yr I wanted something to be done regarding the illegal tip/dump near the airport (Bophut) IMG_6096.MOVIMG_6096.MOVwhere they are pumping the wastewater into the tributary that runs into a river that dumps into the ocean (next to Buddah Pier). Our Provincial Dept environment, dept natural resources and the local municipality visited the site yesterday. Their response? They told the land owner not to allow dumping. Then stated that the water being pumped out will stop when the rain decreases. Did anyone hear a solution??????I contacted Eco-Thailand who then contacted the Province.I'll try contacting National authorities next as well as International. This is unbelievable, but typical. There is no recourse for Koh Samui (or anywhere else). As a Farang, I didn't think I'd get this far, so I'm grateful for that. But the pollution will continue. Which means every time it rains, this area will smell like a toilet, flood the roadway with toxic water, and flow through communities before reaching the Gulf.Imagine what they're doing at the tip/dump site in Hua Thanon where the garbage is overflowing onto the street outside the facility.* Unless the Thai people get involved, a pandemic is coming. This could involve widespread disease, birth defects, and unforeseen consequences. Our little island is in big trouble.Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
