BANGKOK, 19 December 2017 (NNT) – The Federation of Thai Capital Markets Organization (FETCO) is forecasting economic expansion in Thailand of 4.2 percent next year with exports and investment to continue growing while also assessing that investor confidence over the next 3 months may temper somewhat but continue on an uptrend.

FETCO President Worawan Tharabhumi pointed out that the global economy has shown signs of strengthening, which should support investment and exports by the Kingdom. FETCO sees the Thai economy growing 4.1-4.2 percent next year on the back of exports and tourism as well as due to state investment, which it believes will be more concrete and help to embolden the private sector.

The federation sees more foreign capital entering the Thai stock market and the overall value of registered businesses rising by 10 percent.

A survey for December 2017 has found investor confidence for the next 3 months has tempered somewhat but is maintaining a hot streak.

Investors believe that Thai stocks will improve over the next 3 months both due to the expanding Thai economy and an expected adjustment in the United States’ policy interest rate.
