Sokha’s daughter in legal trouble

The Interior Ministry has warned of legal action against jailed opposition leader Kem Sokha’s daughter, Kem Monovithya, for calling on foreign buyers to stop ordering garment products from the kingdom. “Cambodia may lose a group of garment buyers if it doesn’t comply with the conditions,” she posted on Twitter last week.

Interior Ministry spokesman General Kieu Sopheak said that Ms Monivithya’s actions affected the interests of the nation. “I think her actions affect national interests,” Mr Sopheak said. “Legal action should be taken.”

He added that about three million workers’ livelihoods would be affected if foreign nations stopped importing garments from the kingdom of Cambodia.. “It does not affect one person but millions of people, including the families of the workers,” he said.
