First of all let's get this out of the way.

Both Australia and Israel are eligible to be in Eurovision under the rules even though they both aren't in Europe.

Also of course in the case of Israel there has been a lot of controversy about continuing to allow them in Eurovision for political reasons and a number of countries have boycotted because of their inclusion.

No such issues about Australia.

ANYWAY, this year Eurovision Asia starts.

It's potential iis massive but on the other hand it might not resonate at all.

My prediction is that it will work but it will take some years to be big thing.

Israel is located in Asia.

Australia isn't in Asia but based on close proximity there is a precedence of participation in Asian organizations.

It's not going to happen right away (Euroivision has already said they're not forcing Israel to move) but I think if Euorvision Asia is a success, it's quite logical for both Australia nad Israel to move to Eurovision Asia.

But wait. There are countries in Asia that won't participate if Israel is in it.

If Europe continues to treat Israel differently from Russia and does not seriously isolate it, then I do not really see why Israel should turn toward Asia instead. Asia is not automatically more welcoming either. From a non biased point of view, the bigger question is why the same standards are not applied more consistently.

Russia vs. Ukraine and the Israel vs. Palestine are not equivalent situtions.

As far as Eurovision goes, I'm sure Israerl wants to stay with the original one.

For now, anyway.

I said that from a non biased point of view, there are strong similarities in the actions and in the accusations of violations of international law. Whether people see them as the same is obviously a matter of opinion.

Both countries have been accused of violating international humanitarian law. The ICC has issued warrants involving senior Russian officials over alleged war crimes in Ukraine, and warrants for Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant over alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. The ICJ has also imposed provisional measures on Israel under the Genocide Convention.

I see no reason to treat them differently when judging alleged violations of international law. The same standards should apply to both.

Among the Asian countries in Pew’s spring 2026 survey, unfavorable views of Israel were roughly:

Pakistan 95%

Malaysia 89%

Indonesia 86%

Japan 83%

Bangladesh 79%

Singapore 72%

South Korea 70%

Philippines 64%

Thailand 59%

Sri Lanka 41%

India 28%

That could change of course, but that's the situation now.

I'm assuming but don't know that at least for now the management of Eurovision Asia is with the main brand.

As said Eurovision has already said they won't push Israel to Eurovision Asia but that doesn't necessarily mean never.

As said before in the long run I think both Australia and Israel should eventually migrate to Asia.

There is the friction issue though. I suppose it could potentially be worse in Asia so then it would need to be decided whether to keep Israel in the original or to ban them.

Time is also a factor. Israel might get new better leadership which might reduce the calls to ban them.

I think Australia should move by choice as soon as the Asian context becomes big. If it doesn't. that would be different.

You brought the controversy around Israel into the OP yourself. Russia came up because people naturally compare how the two countries are treated. But point taken, you designed the thread for your own opinion only.
