Raram28 Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 Dear members, My wife and I will be in Singapore in March. We are both scuba divers and hoped you might suggest some place or places in Thailand. We were thinking perhaps Ko Samui or Ko Tao since we have been to Phuket already. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you!

futsukayoi Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 Most of the dive sites are closer to Koh Tao so the diving is cheaper and more convenient from there so better if you want to get in a lot of dives. However especially the bigger operators there are mainly certification factories so not many experienced divers compared to Koh Samui. That means they do a high proportion of shallow sites and a lot of the places they go to can be really crowded with other divers. After diving Koh Tao caters heavily for backpackers and youngsters who want to party. On Samui the average age is a decade or two higher and caters more for that. Really depends what you are looking for. For Koh Samui I like Hundred Degrees East. Fast speedboat, very professional, good well maintained equipment and don't go out if they expect poor visibility. For Koh Tao I like Roctopus. They try to avoid the crowds by going at slightly different times, very friendly and helpful staff.
Raram28 Posted January 15, 2018 Author Posted January 15, 2018 Thank you very much Futsukayoi. Kind regards, r
