Sasithorn Wirathepsuporn covers herself Wednesday as police escort to the court

BANGKOK — A retired massage parlor kingpin said Wednesday that investigators have it wrong about who owns a brothel where dozens of women were reportedly forced into prostitution.

After police arrested Sasithorn Wirathepsuporn as the person responsible for running Victoria’s Secret, where eight sex workers were found to be underage, former brothel boss turned politician turned talk show host Chuvit Kamolvisit said Sasithorn is merely a proxy for the real owner.

Chuvit speaks up ‘to fight trafficking’

Former massage parlour owner tells police real owner of Victoria’s at large.

FORMER massage-parlour tycoon Chuvit Kamolvisit yesterday handed over evidence to back his claim that the real owner of the massage parlour Victoria’s: The Secret Forever remains at large.

Authorities are cracking down on the massage parlour in Bangkok’s Huai Khwang district on suspicion that it engaged in underage prostitution and human trafficking after a recent raid on the premises.

On Wednesday, authorities denied allegations that the crackdown was politically motivated.

At least seven suspects have already been detained in connection with the case, including Sasithorn Weerathepsuporn, a major shareholder and the licence-holder of the business. “It’s strange that the name of the real owner has not been mentioned at all,” said Chuvit, a previous owner of Victoria’s.

As a present-day news host, Chuvit reiterated yesterday that he had sold the massage parlour to Kampol Weerathepsuporn, not Sasithorn.

“I have not even seen Sasithorn before. Documents about the purchase should qualify as evidence,” he said after emerging from meeting with police.

Police started investigating Victoria’s after the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) and military raided the venue on January 12.

The testimony of female workers rounded up in the raid strongly suggested that the venue had engaged in prostitution and some sex workers were underage.

Chuvit said he had decided to speak up about the real owner in the hope of supporting the country’s anti-human trafficking efforts.

After Chuvit mentioned Kampol’s name on TV, police invited him to a meeting yesterday. He spent more than five hours with police.

Deputy National Police Commissioner Pol General Srivara Ransibrahmanakul said Chuvit’s information had been useful.

“But it’s not enough to issue an arrest warrant for Kampol. Immigration police’s records show Kampol is still in Thailand,” he said.

Evidence and testimony from 90 people was solid enough for police to obtain arrest warrants for three more suspects who were cashiers at Victoria’s, he added. They were identified as Supatra Sarad, Yanisa Prombutr and Pratuang Tutrasang.

Pol Lt-Colonel Supat Thamthanarug, who heads the DSI Bureau of Human Trafficking Crime, said he was in the process of taking over the Victoria’s case from police.

He said he hoped Wang Thong Lang Police Station, whose jurisdiction covers Victoria’s, would quickly hand over the case to ensure the ongoing investigation proceeds smoothly.

“My bureau has already invited relevant authorities such as the Anti-Money Laundering Office and the Social Development and Human Security Ministry to serve as advisers in this case,” he added.

Srivara said it would take about three days to transfer the case because police would act on written notice.

I love Chuvit, one day he turned a honest person who can expose everyone. He was one of the hostages of police in the past and at stage he was running just to pay to police.

He give lot of tip-offs and openly talking about this ugly trade. But i am wondering so far he has been safe and come forward in public to give statement about the black sheep's.

Huwai Kwang is getting popular for brothels because of number of Chinese tourists arrivals. A bus load of Chinese men coming here to <deleted>.

'Crook turned Politician' here is akin to saying 'Bus conductor becomes Driver'

Chuwit knows more about corruption than most people and probably less corrupt than most. When he was a "politician" he always at with the opposition, no matter who it was

Real owner must really be well connected, because I am sure they all (including Chuwit), know who he is. :annoyed:

Think it might surprise no one who is the real owner mmmmm Well connected i would say

It has been operating as a brothel for over 15 years. Previous owner has been a Thai Politician and knows the current owner; he actually sold it to this owner 15 years ago.

The people involved in the ownership are believed to forming a new political party. The General wants them to join with his merry men to get the numbers to be elected.

The extremely sad thing to this is that girls have worked in this establishment for a very long time. It has neon lights. The police are caught out when they lack in following the leadership of the General. The police are then sought out and prosecuted for their wrong doings. Therefore its not about the welfare of the girls selling their bodies night and day either pressed into service or of their own free will. This is a political masquerade by the powerful elite of Bangkok.

Of course - brothel owners are always upstanding, honest citizens. Selling the bodies of young girls is certainly not corrupt.

Huwai Kwang has always had a lot of brothels, got nothing to do with Chinese tourists.

And as for Chuvit, I think plenty of others have commented on what he is really about

How is a bus load of Chinese men coming here to <deleted> any different to planes full of European men coming here for the same reason?

I can't see the relevance of your comment.

Regardless of who owns what, I still believe this whole operation started because someone didn't get his fat brown-envelope paycheck.

That's original.

Maybe, but looks more like he's rolling his eyes at the brothel kingpin's bulls**t remarks!

EDIT:  OOPS... another poster says it's Chuvet himself.  We can only imagine what he's thinking! :shock1:

It seems perhaps Thai police may be taking a lesson from the US police playbook. "If you say you were forced to do happy ending, and boss kept money, you will not go to jail till you're old". But that scenario would not help with underage workers. But but but she said she was 19!
