webfact Posted January 19, 2018 Share Posted January 19, 2018 Energy Minister: No plan to cut down PTT, EGAT roles BANGKOK, 19th January 2018 (NNT) – The Energy Minister, Siri Jirapongphan, said the government has no plans to weaken the roles of PTT and the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), both of which positioned to help enhance national energy security. Mr. Siri has refused circulating rumours on social media claiming the government plans to reduce the roles of both energy giants He said both companies are considered important state enterprises for national energy security, and that the government continues to appoint duties to both companies to help preserve and promote energy security of the country. Infrastructure projects related to energy security, such as the gas tunnel project, electricity cables, and key power plants, will remain under the management of the two organizations.
