Private sector pledges to maintain prices of goods

The private sector yesterday (Wednesday) pledged to cooperate with the government to maintain prices of their goods after the government has announced the increase of minimum wage from 5-22 baht a day.

 

Promise was voiced as the Ministry of Commerce invited manufacturers and producers of consumer goods to a meeting for their cooperation to hold off any plan to increase prices.

 

After the meeting, Commerce Minister Sonthirat Sontijirawong revealed that a meeting with more than 152 businesses has been successful with the private sector voicing agreement to the government over the proposed 5 -22 baht increase in minimum wage.

Promises and pledges count for nought in Thailand. It is part of Thai-ism culture.

Can anyone in their wildest dreams imagine that the private sector will not adjust prices upward to maintain their margins.

Another empty 'Pledge' from the greedy few who feed the Elite's coffers.  Just watch prices rise when the Supermarkets here are already more expensive on most items than in The West !

Yes supermarkets are more expensive than in the West but they also have 10 times more personell doing nothing all day long. Every alley has it's own staff, just like Homepro, and they always stand in your way.

 

Then they have the students to pack the bags, the security, 3 behind the servicedesk, security on the parkinglot.....they all are paid from your grocery's.

Easy to maintain prices , just put less product in each package , like they have been doing for years now.
