In a poll released today, 47% of people disagreed with the poll delay while only 21% agreed with the delay. I'm not claiming anything, just stating facts.

Washington’s Asia-Pacific Strategy: Renewed Political Turmoil as US Targets Thailand

Washington’s Asia-Pacific strategy has gone from maintaining primacy over the region for decades to increasingly desperate attempts to salvage its now waning influence.

This is in part due to China’s rise as an economic, military and political regional power as well as the increasing self-reliance of smaller but still pivotal Asian nations. This includes the Southeast Asian Kingdom of Thailand.

In Washington’ Shadow

Can't handle the truth that the wheels are falling off for this junta government? Looks like you'll be heading to Cambodia or Lao sooner rather than later.

All that this government has achieved is to barely come back to pre coup economic levels, but only after causing significant economic damage over the last 3 years. This, together with the questionable way that they came to power, and the rampant corruption at the upper levels, does mean that I would never applaud any so called achievements, since they would be fruit from the poison tree.

I have tried hard to think of anything this government has achieved but can't come up this anything much other than the PM himself personally intervening to reduce the number of allowable twerks by Lamyai and his deputy Prawit with his enviable watch collection.

I give them some marks for misguided endeavour but usually whatever they try to achieve ends up as a disaster or complete shambles due to incompetent planning. e.g. the registration of foreign workers, clearing the pavements, reduction of road deaths....the list is endless.

Indeed, process counts: rule of law, not rule of men like we have under this fascist government.

I wonder why some on here are insulted being called a fascist, when they're the definition of one.  What do they think makes them different from the many millions who looked at Mussolini, Hitler, Stalin, Putin, and said: "The country needs someone like that"? Where all these people evil psychopaths?  No.  They were normal people who wanted order instead of chaos and looked the other way when "troublemakers" come to a bad end.  "They were asking for it."  Like that young woman today in the newspapers who had to flee the country, Navalny who got arrested yesterday, and journalists languishing in Turkish jails.  Should've just keep their heads down.  "It ain't pretty, but the country needs someone like that" the rationalization of every fascist government since ever.

So indeed, no matter what a fascist government achieves, I'll be against it.

Do you read Thai newspapers or taker party in any Thai forums?

Do you watch any Thai TV political programs?

You are very opinionated foreigner, on matters that have nothing to do with you, yet are missing some crucial information about what this junta has achieved, or more significantly prevented.

You personally attack those who interact with Thais, and integrate into society.

The economy is much better than it was. You are just another who reads TV and thinks he knows it all.

I post on certain Thai forums, and you have a point. To really understand the current political situation and what Thai people think, you really have to join these forums. Due to restrictions by law/moderation and loss of translation, many here don't have a clue about what's really going on.

A third rate news agency ranking means nothing really compared to an estimated 20 to 30 billion usd in lost economic growth and a plumetting corruption rating. Thailand ranks 120th on that scale.

Junta sycophants really need to grasp to find positives.

Nonsense.

Can't argue with that deep analytical insight. The junta has nothing to worry about with braintrust like that in their court.

The Best Business ranking is published by US News

From the Wikipedia page:

U.S. News is best known today for its influential Best Colleges and Best Hospitals rankings, but it has expanded its content and product offerings in education, health, money, careers, travel, and cars. The rankings are popular in North America but have drawn widespread criticism from colleges, administrations, and students for their dubious, disparate, and arbitrary nature.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._News_%26_World_Report

Not exactly an international respected agency...More like a third rate news source, as I mentioned earlier.

Did you read the article that made Prayut so happy?  It should have been titled "World's easiest place to start a business".  Being the easiest place to start a business is like being the easiest casino to enter; in both cases the hard part is making money and getting out.
